Talking about a guy who was quite frankly carried in our promotion winning side, I shit myself every time he had the ball, would he have even got in those promotion winning Sheffield United or Burnley sides?

It was pretty obvious that Jobe still had serious issues that needed to be worked on, especially when he plays further forward. Which unfortunately has been the case with Dortmund.

Neil can turn into trouble too much but he's nowhere near as ponderous and "safe" as Jobe.

For me Neil went missing when we were behind or in big games and is slow. He might prove me wrong good luck to him.

I think he (and Jobe) could be good enough for the Prem, if they are ever given time to adapt to it, but it would have been a severe learning curve for them if they had started for us. Both far too easily dispossessed because they always think they can turn their way out of trouble, I think Neil has more skill though and could make it work quicker but that's obviously not a chance the club wanted to take.

I just don't think he should have been playing in front of the back four, it worked in the end but he is better when pressing and joining in with attacks.

Time will tell on his development which I'll watch with interest. I'm not expecting anything spectacular though from what I've seen over the years.
 
Bit disappointed for the lad, but we've signed a few top quality players in his position so he was always gunna struggle.

Sure he'll be proud of what he achieved with us and he's still young enough to go on to have a good career.
 
Dan Neil took someone’s place when he broke on to the scene, because he was better than the previous ma.
