SMB Film Thread 2026

We’re watching Avatar (the original) tonight as we’re taking the niece to see the latest one tomorrow and I’ve never seen it.

I expected it to be good.

What a load of predictable, yet non-sensical, shite.

Big massive rocks floating about in zero-G, yet people walking about on them? Dual-roter helis with inverted roters?

Grace has just not been resuscitated into her body atm.

We watched it on Friday - after having 4DX cinema tickets last July that we didn’t use….partly because the reviews on here were shite …..

And both really enjoyed it!

(I realise now that the negative comments I’d relayed were from people pointing out the obvious Hollywood touches)

There's a sequel set in Gateshead

Chavatar.

Thought it was decent,that's it
Oh i loved it. Expected Robert Jhnson to turn up at the crossroads.

Best, best picture nomination in years.
Yep, bit of a quirky vampire film and pretty good.
Maybe shows how shite a lot of films being released are, rather than this being exceptional
Think you could be right. Felt it was just something different from the turgid, worthy, important men biopic that seems to dominate the oscars or CGI shite that seems to be released on rote like factory fodder.

And thats what it was, it was different to what gets released repeatedly year after year, and a bit of a twist on vampire films as well, not to say it was bad as it was a good film.
I'm guessing one battle after another will win,but I didn't think it was as good as sinners, personal favourite was frankenstein in these Oscar nominations

And the music was good.

That scene in the dance hall which i thought perfectly illustrated how music always owes a debt to what came before and will forever help other musicians to move forward took my breath away.

Just watched Sinners to see what all the Oscar fuss was about.

Effing brilliant. A good 8.5.

Love to hear others opinion.
Very good, lots of tangents not a pure horror film in the slightest.

Yes, different, at times it was a musical.

Haven't seen Frankenstein yet. Need to get it watched.

Strange Del Toro didn't get the nod for best director tho
Watched it the pictures and at home, the music is class and it was different that you had to invite vampires in.

I did'nt realise the twin brothers were played by the same actor.
Oh, neither did I till you just told me
🤣

The music was right up my street, and the vampire stuff just got in the way. That said, Buddy Guy at the end made it into something special.
Thought Sinners was good but not Oscar best film good.

It didn't make my top 10. It Was Just An Accident was my personal favourite, and like Parasite it should have been up for Best Picture, not just Best Foreign Film.

Yes

But the music plus the vampire stuff was what made it more than just vampire stuff. Like I said, bit of a Robert Johnson feel about it, plus, c'mon. When he machine gunned rhe klan. That was good fun
Best Klan scene since O brother where art thou
