Any podcast fans out there?

I miss the second tier but to be fair I don’t think I’d find the time to listen to any none SAFC specific pods now.

Between WMS, WTF and the Haway The Podcast stuff I find my weekly podcast appetite is completely sated !

the guardian one is alright, but its still just quite basic lads banter, they basically just reiterate what everyone else is saying about matches, players, var decisions etc.. but in a more articulate way.

mind, they do skip over the lesser games. expect 20 mins on the main game, 5-10 mins each on the other big games, 2 mins max on the mid table games and sometimes zero minutes on certain games

Guardian Football Weekly - SAFC get plenty of mention due to Barry Glendinning and Jonathan Wilson
Athletic Totally Football Show - more big 6 focus but similar to Guardian football weekly and have some great European insights and guests.
Football Ramble - mag and a Mackem on there. More banter type crack.
On the continent - focused on Europe but a little bit more serious than the ramble.
The Athletic FC - big 6 focus
Libero - really quietly with Jonathan Wilson and James Horncastle so quite Anglo Italian pod.
Is that Guardian one free, fancy giving it a try. Usually find Guardian football coverage really good

What's the Dotun Adebayo like nowadays? Stopped listening to the world football phone as found him incredible annoying
I know what you mean. He often hosts the OTC podcast, on which he’s generally ok, and there are also a few other journos on there including a MLF called David Cartlidge.

NTT20 and the Second Tier are great, and I continued listening to them after promotion in order to keep up with the championship goings on, because until we went mental in the transfer market and got off to a great start I thought we would be back there next season. Haven't felt the need to listen since last autumn though:)
I now mainly just listen to ours: WTF, WMS, Ha'Way The Pod, The Roar, Phil Smith, We Are Sunderland, and sometimes Conor McGilligan on YouTube, as he is very balanced.
Pretty much the same listing as me. However, ‘Sensible Sunderland’ is by far the most irreverent and funny Pod out there. Love these lads, shame they only seem to do one a month.

Annoyingly they've been less than that recently, when we all want to listen to as much safc stuff as possible

The Managers is canny Mick Mccarthy and Tony Pulis.....

Used to like the ping pong guy one with Syed, Savage n Flintoff. It was canny craic but seemed to end hastily

Football ramble and Guardian one are the best of a bad bunch. Most just nosh off the big 6.

I think the Prem podcast ecosystem is different and if you want to hear chat about something going on at a particular club you are better off just hunting out one of their own fan podcasts.

Totally Football Show, James Richardson the host
On the continent
The athletic FC

Plus WMS, RR and WTF preview

Totally Football Show with James Richardson

The guy who used to do football Italia is the best for general footy IMO

It was what it was: The football history podcast

Done by Johnathen Wilson (a MLF) probably one of my favourite football journalists. Some of the episodes are a bit hit and miss but some are excellent

On the continent: A European football podcast

Best one for none premier league stuff IMO, well worth a listen

The Italian football Podcast

I love my Italian football so maybe biased, but the 2 who do it are great, occasionally get into very heated debate and well worth a listen

WTF Sunderland Podcast

Would say is my favourite Sunderland podcast. But there’s loads, highly recommend the none regular (maybe every month) Sensible Sunderland Podcast, has me in stitches and it’s anything but sensible…

All these will have been listed before I’m sure.

Wise Men Say

The oldest & probably the best SAFC one there is. Can vary with guests/hosts of course so the different pods within the pod have a different feel. The Monday review show is my favourite of the regular pods, Stephen knows his stuff. Also enjoy the ‘reacto’ which is very ‘heat of the moment’ & can tell Eleanor & Micky have been through the matchday wringer like we all have. The Thursday/Preview really lost its way 2/3 years ago but is much better now. I gather Weatherspoon is now with The Athletic so he isn’t on anymore, which is a shame.

Roker Report/Haway the Podcast

Loads & loads of SAFC content, but if anything, there is probably too much released on their feed. However, I enjoy the post-match Pubcast (same reasons as the WMS ‘reacto’) & the Sunday Supplement is always decent. I tend to skip over a lot of the history stuff, but they get the likes of Rob Mason on who is a great guest. My main gripe with them is having the likes of Keith Downie & Scott Wilson (Wor Flags man) on. Lads/Gav, if you’re reading this, can you just fuck off the Mag journalists you have on please….

Sensible Sunderland

The funniest of the lot, shame the lads don’t do them more regularly.

The Roar by the Sunderland Echo

Anything with Phil Smith of the Echo is worth a listen from a Sunderland perspective. This is the in-house Echo podcast so guess it’s his home. He’s occasionally on WMS & RR of course. Seems to be a decent chemistry with Copley & the other lad. Not as many releases as I’d like, but suppose it’s fitted around their day jobs.

Tried 'The Tifo' podcast by The Athletic and found myself wanting to rip my ears off. A bunch of posh twats trying to be funny and going off on pointless tangents. Loathsome.

The price of football is a good listen ,more football finance than football chat but it does give good insight to the behind the scenes running of football . Kevin Day is the only downside to the podcast tho
