Glasner

If it’s true that he told Parrish, in private, that he wouldn’t sign a new contract as far back as last October, then the club could easily have sacked him at anytime after that - based on the need for long term planning.

I agree he’s looking for a way out early - probably to line up his next move. I wonder what Man United make of this outburst

Be a decent option for Man U

Palace considering sacking him according to SSN. It was a pretty explosive interview post match, doesn't seem a happy camp at all. Quite mad how quickly it has changed from the FA Cup win.
I said the other day on a different thread that the way he announced he was leaving was out of the blue and he said it like it was nothing. Proper weird character that fella and he contradicts himself way more than the media picks up on.

In recent weeks he’s said “haven’t had a chance to sit down and discuss the contract because of the schedule”… but he then says the other day he made the decision in October not to sign anything new and wanted to leave once his contract was up.

He also said to the board he wanted a smaller squad, and yesterday he said the board has “abandoned” him with a smaller squad. Everyone knew Guehi was leaving because he said already.

Also very harsh for him to say there were only kids on the bench when he had Uche and Sosa who he signed in the summer, and a player who was in his squad against Burnley 2 years ago.

Self imploding just to get the payoff from being sacked I reckon.

I bet Brennan Johnson is whishing he had a 30 day cooling off period inserted in his transfer. I thought they looked pretty good first half and he appears to have taken the huff big time.
Strange that his agent has entertained Palace with whats been stirring up understand its lining his pockets but it could put a halt to the progression of Johnson.

I thought his comments were ridiculous. Guehi made it clear he wouldn’t sign a new deal and realistically he should have been sold in the summer for PSR rules. Glasner spat out his dummy so the club backed him and kept Guehi only for the manager to walk away. And then he wonders why Palace are selling Guehi now? They need to get whatever money they can for him.

Hope Palace can find a way to sack him without a pay off.

...which was his exact train of thought doing all of this...£££££ pay off.

Don't think it's that at all to be fair to him. His contract is up at the end of the season anyway - so he will only get that paid up.

It is a piss take selling your captain the day before a game. He's fed up with the working environment they have created.

I think it's more that he wants them to sack him so he doesn't have to walk away and let the squad down. Doubt the compensation is even a factor.

I don't think there will be a rush to sign this bloke up, he's been horrifically unprofessional. Talk of Spurs going anywhere near him is laughable now

Its a sad situation not only for Palace but for clubs like us. We all want a season like Palace had last year but they seem to have imploded as a result. Victim of their success, they won the cup but within a year the captain, the goalscorer and manager of the cup winning team will have left
I agree but it also shows that you need to have a genuine long term plan and have everyone on board. No way did he join Palace and they told him we’d keep our best players, spend £10’s of millions and you will have full control. Palace like us and most of clubs are a selling club hoping to have 1 or 2 players worth £50m plus they can cash in on and use that to buy 3 or 4 more young players that can be improvements.

Once a manager vetos a deal like Guehi but refuses to sign a new contract then sadly it’s the end, he was looking after himself 100% there as for Palace the better situation would have to cash in then.

I said it on another thread the best thing looking back Palace and Glasner could have done is part ways after the FA Cup win, sell Guehi and Eze and give the new manager the £120/150m to build a new team.

Glasner is looking after himself which is fine as clubs sack managers whenever thy want but it should have been done earlier once it was clear Glasner wasn’t playing for the club.

Palace fans must be pretty despondent with the whole situation, losing their captain and the manager's bad timing in saying he's bailing out! And they were so pedestrian yesterday, when you think that they've had exciting players like Zaha, Eze and Olise in recent years. It's chalk and cheese now!

They got rid of players in the summer for frees aswell so I don't think it's huge for a club that also has the extra income from Europe
The extra income from europa conference down cover the extra in bonuses, travel, additional costs. It’s a bonus for teams from Estonia but EPL teams lose money. That the understanding from the price of football podcast who seem to have pretty good contacts within football.

They'll not be making much from the conference league at all. Edlecislly factoring in the cost of playing in it such as appearances bonuses and all the travelling costs for away games.

Selling 1 players and bringing in 3/4 with the fee will normally always increase the wage bill mind.

Palace also have an extension to pay for. They're probably at their ceiling tbh and it was always going to be like this when the main players were about to leave.

They are not a club like us!
It could all change quickly for us. That's the nature of the Premier League for the 13 or 14 clubs outside the filthy rich elite who will get their top players picked off, one by one, have one bad season and lose their manager.
Palace have won the only domestic trophy worth winning outside of the PL. Mission accomplished. They might be playing Brighton or Brentford in a Championship game in two or three years time. That's the nature of the beast.

..he said he wasn't satsying in October...who is he to tell the owner when or if to sell any player when he isn't commited?

its terrible timing for them with the season entering an interesting phase

leeds look like they have found what it takes to keep them up...cant see them going down now

palace on a bad run, losing players, Bournemouth on a bad run and losing players and SPurs just being absolutely shit and likely to lose their manager if they cant get going in the next couple of weeks

west ham are a bit fragile and it could go either way, Forest are just going to scrap and hope for the best

be really interesting to see if anyone of theose 3 teams on freefall get dragged into it
