Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

Neebody believes the Echo anymore
I certainly don't think the Echo lies or makes stuff up, it's just not like the old days any more where local journalists could build up a relationship with the manager and receive the odd tip off in return for favourable coverage.

Their contact with the manager is now basically limited to the press conferences and in any event the manager doesn't really deal with transfers - and the journalists have next to no contact with those that do.

Transfer stories you read in places like the Echo these days are basically just the same Twitter articles we are going from on here, written up as articles.

I'm certain that they've started getting info from the club again, not from RLB thou

Roker Report did, but not sure if they still do

Just nowhere near the priority of forwards for me marra, we don’t have unlimited money, need to concentrate it in that area of the pitch.
Yeah i agree we need a few attacking options but for me he has now only 18 months on his contract and he is top class and we know or scouts like him so wouldnt surprise me if we make them an offer and he would bulk our defense up a lot

Do you think the club (or, indeed, any club) brings in incoming transfers on the basis of a strict priority order ? And do you think that those responsible for identifying players to be recruited have a limited range of focus of one player at a time ?

Whilst we obviously don't have "unlimited money", neither you nor I (and probably everyone else on here) have any real idea of what funds are available. It appears that because of the sale of Bellingham and Watson, the relative bargain prices that we paid for excellent players during the Summer and the relatively small transfer expenditures in previous years, we are still well within the PSR limit for the club.

When good players become available then it makes sense for the club to act promptly, rather than adopting a stance during negotiations with a player and his club akin to - "We do want to sign you, honest, but can you just hang on while we sign a winger/midfielder/left-back/striker".
