Dan Neil

If he leaves it's a shame we never go to see him alongside these higher calibre players like Xhaka or Sadiki from time to time... I'm sure their presence would have raised his level too. Been a fantastic servant to the club.
The coaching staff see Neil playing with and against these players every day. They must think he’s not up to it.

Most of Gary Rowells and Charlie Hurley and Bobby Kerrs, and Ian Porterfields careers were outside the top league.
Marco took us from league 1 to top league .
This is a poor argument by your standards.
Everyone in that team last year is a legend to me much as the FACup team was.
They bust an absolute gut to basically end their career with the club. They deserve respect for that, not being vilified.
In fact those 5 or so players who brought us from 1st division to premiership deserve a bloody statue for what they have done for us. Some of them are not Premiership standard but that is not relevant to your point.
Respect is the right word

That’s the whole idea of subs 👍
Well said mate.

Excellent post

So he rejected a contract (I assume he wants to play more than he would which is fair enough)- but that also means that for us- it's not going to be in our best interests to play him- he could get injured or he just might not be as motivated to play to his full potential (I'm sure he'd be professional, but it is what it is). Köln would be a great move for everyone, offer then a good deal with a sell on clause.
He got his boyhood club promoted to the PL and can always call himself a premier league player now.

Good luck to the guy.

It's perfectly possible for DN to be a good footballer who has played a key role in our recent history, but who can no longer hold down a first team place therefore we let him go with our best wishes.

Cheers Dan, Germany is probably a good move if this happens and hope you smash it.

Great post. All of the players we are correctly lauding and rightly so this season would not be here if it wasn't for the lads that rolled their sleeves up to get us back up the leagues. It must be a strange feeling knowing that if you succeed in your job you will probably be moved on for someone who is better. I can't thank every player who put in the graft to help us back up into this position and they all have my blessing and best wishes in all they do going forward. They returned us to the land of milk and honey.

Not watched a massive amount of German football lately but when I have it seems slower which will suite his style. He could go there an do a mctommany and rejuvenate his career. Shame we’ve went past his current level but he’s still young enough to improve and I hope he goes there and does well.

Far too often, games seemed to pass him by, and he was often ineffectual & rarely stood out, even at Championship level.

We've since, signed players who are levels above him, and even if he'd signed a new contract, I'm sure his game time would've been very limited, anyway.

I'm not forgetting his contribution to our rise from League One to Premier league, and I thank him for that and wish him well, at whichever club he opts, to continue his career in the game.

He was our best player for a good spell he’s never gonna stand out the role he was asked to play !!! People are making shit up now if he had signed a contract he would be playing more simple as that

I’m confused why Cirkin gets a different press in respect of probably leaving on a free in the summer than DN.

I’d love Cirkin to sign a new deal he’s perfect as back up to Reneildo as he will be able to play when needed and push him. But if he’s leaving for nothing all we are doing by playing him is increasing his wage deal at his new club !

As for DN, he’s never going to hold down a regular starting place in the PL for us which shows how far we’ve come. It’s a shame if we don’t get a fee for him, that reduces our pot of cash for summer transfers.
