Thoughts on Everton's new ground?

We’re quite a like as a fanbase in that regard. It just so happened what we are reacting too on the pitch is arguably the best most of us have had it in our lifetimes.

Enjoy it mate! Our last few games have been a very hard watch and the starting 11 did little to give any enthusiasm that we would get anything today. Tbf whilst Moyes deserves flack from the fans he is missing:

Branthwaite: our best defender

Ndiaye: our best attacking player / wide player

Dewsbury-Hall: our best midfielder

Grealish: our most creative player

Gueye / Alcaraz / Tim / Keane also out who have done well for us this season. Also doesnt help we have 2 shite strikers and no decent full back. Its why im not that fussed we lost today, we haven't got whats needed to go all the way and win a cup this season.

For me its get the key players back fit, hopefully sign 1-2 this window and strenghen in the summer and go again next season with no AFCON and hopefully more strength in depth to cope with injuries.

Our home fans are very reactive rather than bouncing around with drums and flags during the game.

If there is something to cheer about on the pitch, a crap ref giving everything the oppositions way or we're the underdog / fighting for our lives the home crowd is fantastic.

If its midtable with little jeopardy or we're playing awful football we can be quiet. Mind its like that at most English grounds these days.

Was like that at Goodison as well its nothing new.
Mind the ref was shite for us more than you.

I think Spurs is a lot better. I felt the HD seemed a bit average inside.
Thing that let Spurs down for me was the outside felt a bit too much like an office building / corporate HQ and inside was very corporate. The big stand looked impressive. I just liked Everton a bit more.

crap ref? He kept you in the game.
Came across loud as anything for the majority of the game on my stream.
The Everton fans were quiet as they must be adding the atmosphere if that was the case. Feel a bit for them if it's like that most weeks.

We weren't at the races either tbf but they were mute.

Having done 3 new grounds in a week I would say this was my pick of the bunch. Very impressive architecturally, looks very handsome on the walk from Albert dock, looks better when you get closer and the brickwork blended in really well in the industrial area it was in. That supporters area out the front was well done and lots of atmosphere with bars and food options. Internally I think the layout felt very symmetrical compared to spurs and despite being big it still felt compact. Definitely got a thumbs up from me.
How long does it take to walk to from Albert Dock?

Bit bizarre going for a pint through the turnstiles for the food and drink I was asked to show my card. It was HSBC which they didn't accept. Weird.

I couldn’t go today, however, I’ve watched a few Everton games on tv this season and it appears that they have a real problem generating any sort of atmosphere.

If I were a home supporter, I’d also be very annoyed at the ridiculously loud tannoy muzac that they use to fill the gaps.

I wasn’t quite at Albert dock. Parked my car at an industrial estate about 10 mins from there. Was 15 to the ground so no more than 30 if your were to walk to Albert dock. Mind getting away was much busier, that road heading back that way is extremely congested.

Ultimately depends on the game mate. The wins against Brighton, Fulham & the comeback against Palace the atmosphere was sound.

Heavy defeats to Spurs/Geordies/Brentford were awful.

Today the team sheet / previous 2 home outings set the tone from the 1st minute.

One thing that hasn't helped mind is fams being dotted around the stadium. At Goodison everyone knew who was sat next to them and you had pockets of loud fans who would start off chants etc. Whereas those same fans are now in seperate stands etc. It'll take time but it'll get there.

I think with Goodison there is many who look at it with nostalgia, you could hear a pin drop if it was an early kick off against say a Burnley or Bournemouth.

They also play a load of old Everton music which is very much of a time, slow and a bit wet really.

Thanks, I’ll probably stay at Albert Docks in May so that was useful to know 👍😉🤞🏻

Controversial opinion here but would have been an opportunity to rebrand and get rid of Z Cars song 😆 appreciate there may be some nostalgia with the older fans but I've always found it dreadful.

I think part of the mistakes with new grounds is that they try to shoehorn anyone vocal into one end.

At Goodison you had the Park End who were vocal by the aways, similar at Spurs. Just a load of families at both now so any back and forth is gone.

RE the toilets, I definitely think there is too many female bogs and they could have put more male ones in.

But I suppose the club had concerts/events in mind alongside football. A Taylor Swift concert for example will have predominantly women attendees. Crap for us blokes but that's the way new grounds are now with FFP/PSR - football matches are not the sole consideration from a revenues perspective.

For me I just let the crowds outside the bogs die down before heading straight down at HT. Still a little wait but far better than fighting in a queue!
The Premier League's most WOKE ground.
