ID checks for away tickets

Let’s be honest, the ticket office staff and management see fans as an inconvenience.
It’s a long time since I’ve had anything positive to say about the ticket office in the last five years.
I’ve had the issue of having to go to the stadium to sort three separate issues and have came out worse on every occasion all due to their incompetence.
Not fussed if anyone wants to come on and say how great they were with you, happy days, guess I get red flagged for the weekly clown play competition.
They've been shite since we left roker imo, between me n me father we've had multiple clarts on from the ajax game all the way to now, so many so I've probably forgotten many

Everyone’s worst nightmare turning up to an event and having red flash at the turnstiles and not letting you in when you have a genuine ticket. A huge amount of our fans arrive fairly late and due to the huge crowds are likely to miss the kick off, see Burnley away this year for example .then being told to the ticket office when they have a legit ticket. If you’ve manually been selected you can prepare to arrive early, not to wait until scanning your ticket to be then treat like a anyone thinking this is acceptable behaviour is a wanker

It’s clearly a spot check though - can happen at any ticketed event.

Plan to arrive early anyway in case you’re selected - no different to being told you’ve manually been selected. Unless of course, you’ve got a ticket that you shouldn’t have and that’s the crux of the matter.

Damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

My worry, if they’re not giving notice of ID checks, is that I’m with my kids, I usually swipe them two through first then me. What am I supposed to do with them if I get picked? Are the security staff going to be babysitters for me while I go faffing about at the ticket office? I’ve always got ID on me so it’s not a major issue, just an extra hassle.

Excellent point tbf 👏

I didn't see or hear of any . Wonder if they couldn't do it cos it was paper tickets?
They could, they just cancel the ticket so it doesn't work at the turnstiles and you get directed to ticket office to get checked.
Having said that though I never saw or heard of any. Just the daft security checks slowing everything up.
