ID checks for away tickets

Mags have published this which includes ID checks at away games, seems like they do checks more regularly than us at away matches

The one thing they seem to have right in amongst that Mish mash is that you can pass on an away ticket in the event of an emergency (presume it's only once a season per person) we really could do with something like this to stop seats potentially being wasted if you fell ill or had a family emergency ect at the last minute.
Obvious you don't get the point but the ticket isn't wasted.

Interesting that 610 accounts cancelled due to touting and over 4k accounts being monitored for suspicion of touting. Wonder what the numbers are for us.

Sure its 3 times per season the ticket can be passed on for them.

Maybe this is something the fans groups could take this up going forward??
Personally think twice per season is enough.

i don't think there should be any limit, it should be on an individual basis.

so your only allowed to be sick or have something pop up that means you can't go, twice per season?

it happens all the time, much more regularly that people expect. one of our group didn't come to spurs, as he took ill the day before.

The mags are more stringent than we seem to have been. Checks regularly conducted at away games. No prior notification, the first the fan knows about it is when the ticket goes red at the turnstiles, then they have to go to the away ticket office to get a duplicate.

First offence they lose all loyalty points, further punishments can include losing their season ticket.

The checks aren't a PL mandated thing, there's quite a range in terms of clubs where no checks are carried out and clubs where they're regular with significant penalties. Man united have real issues with touted tickets for their away games iirc

I've had to miss two already this season due to illness - both Manchester games.
I don’t think it should be limited. Unless obvious pisstaking. An illness could easily be 3-6 months but the assumption would be you wouldn’t be buying tickets In that instance.

My mag following workmates have issues all the time, none of them dare swap now and one did lose all his points. He had been pre warned for passing his ticket on for the cup game v us

its kind of what we have now, other than the punishments are a big secret

i can just imagine the club cancelling someones season ticket and taking all their points off them, for one minor infringement. and that fan would have nowhere to go. they couldn't appeal it, or speak to a fans group, or talk to the club about it and plead their case. the club wouldn't entertain them for 1 second, there isn't even a channel for a fan to query something like that (as i found out after brighton)

if i can't go to west ham (my mam is in hospital on the thursday theres a slight chance i'll have to duff it) then my ticket will go unused. the club could accuse me of passing it on and that person didn't produce ID, and the club decide to simply cancel my season ticket . i'd have nowhere to go, no way to prove my innocence, that would be it. banned from the SoL despite not missing a home or away game all season. its bullshit

Should be unlimited , but the person you forward it on to gets the point

Whatever the total that Facebook group has in it
That Facebook group has 1000s of members. All illiterate and all just asking. You might see about 20 tickets genuinely go for sale and it’s the same illiterates answering a day later on a sold post saying “Al take it”

Anyone with a lot of loyalty points is mental to use that group, would you risk the money you’ve invested on some random off Facebook?

Is that just for away matches though because going off that link they also do ID checks for home matches, which I can’t really understand.

Not looking for an argument mate🤣
Just a number that I personally thought was reasonable but appreciate others may not!
End of the day it's open to discussion before the club decided.(If the would actually consider it)

Clubs need to take their time with this and think through the unintended consequences of the protocols they put in place. they also need to make sure that communication around it is clear and easy to understand.

Nowt wrong with introducing checks but just make sure it’s all been thought through thoroughly.

It's due to PL rules. The club probably have to demonstrate to the PL, the measures they have in place to prevent touting.

Up to now as far as I know, people who have used another persons ticket and selected for an ID check have just been unable to enter the ground. The original ticket holder has then been selected for an ID check the next away game as well.

I've not heard of any details been taken at the away ground or even any punishments for the original holder. Has anyone else?

They also remove the BCP for a no-show.
