New Music Releases Thread

Favourite new album that got me a bit obsessed is called West End Girl by Lily Allen, a very interesting listen that tells a really sad story tbh.....

I listened to it once, then a second time as couldn't believe I'd heard the lyrics right the first time (i had). Doesn't do much for me musically so not revisted it... bit mental what she's put out in the public domain.

Yup, it's crazy but he should've known she wouldn't go down gracefully/ meekly.
The woman is hurt, it's not my bag either but I've also listened to it a couple of times, a few of the songs are really good tbf.

Was gonna do a top five then changed to a top ten then changed to a top five of Hip Hop and top five of other music and then somehow ended up with six of each by cheating and cramming two Jay Elec albums in as one. Oh well.

The Beths - Straight Line Was a Lie
Barry Hyde - Miners Ballads
Squid - Cowards
Geese - Getting Killed
Pulp - More
Antony Szmierek - Service Station At The End of the Universe
--
Clipse - Let God Sort Em Out
Jay Electronica - A Written Testimony: Leaflets / A Written Testimony: Mars, The Inhabited Planet
Freddie Gibbs & Alchemist - Alfredo 2
De La Soul - Cabins In The Sky
Chance the Rapper - Star Line
Mac Miller - Balloonerism

I'm half cut on a train home from that beautiful, beautiful win, but I feel I need to say such a big thank you to everyone who posts on his thread. We're nearly 1000 pages in and I've read every post.

I've listened to more records than ever. I've listened to weirder stuff than I've ever heard. And I've loved trying every minute of it.

I get weird strange looks when I tell people I get most of my music from a Sunderland message board from men named after old horses and Simpsons characters, but I wouldn't be without it.

Thank you to everyone who contributes to this thread and everyone who will in 2026. Have a lovely Christmas and a happy new year.

Massive thank you to you! Firstly, you started the thread and, secondly, you recommend as much as you get recommended to you.

More in line with the thread, This is Lorelei's album is quite brief (brief enough that I listened to it walking to and from Londis to get the Observer and make tea and toast) but good and HEALTH's latest is a cracker.

Album\Person of the year for me, Self Esteem... A Complicated Woman is for me the best all round album, plus the accompanying live gigs were phenomenal (in my humble opinion).

Shout out to Sharon Van Etten, Rosalia, Pulp & Geese.

I've found a lot of great music, listened to a lot of great songs but often found the albums they came from as an entity to be disappointing. Turnstile had a great lead single, but their album was disappointing, the Mogwai album was similar.

Slovenian folk instrumental trio Širom released an album in October called In The Wind Of Night, Hard-Fallen Incantantations Whisper.
It's well worth hearing.

The music industry has been getting away with that as long as the album has existed.

    Howling here.

On first moving to London in the early 80s we used to judge a potential living neighbourhood by similar. Can you make a cup of tea then walk to the paper shop and back to find it’s still warm enough to drink? If not you’re in the middle of nowhere.
The other metric was if there was more than one video shop in the area then there was obviously nowt to do on an evening.
Both served us well after two boring experiences.

new albums from The Cribs and Dry Cleaning (produced by Cate Le Bon) this Friday, along with a debut album from Mon Rovia which has been getting a lot of praise from the music press

You've done hallf my job for me there (and I wasn't massively aware of Mon Rovia who sounds up my street).

Made the mistake of posting today so hope this counts as a new post.

There are new albums this week from Dry Cleaning, Jenny On Holiday (solo album from one of Let's Eat Grandma), The Cribs, The Kid Laroi and Pullman.
