Brennan Johnson (signed for Palace)

'Le Bris, a reluctant orator of this most dramatic of transformations, confirmed quietly before the visit of City to the Stadium of Light on Thursday evening that Sunderland have tried to break their record transfer fee once more, with a move for Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson, who appears to be close to joining Crystal Palace. Just a potential £33.5million signing then, dropped into the end of a conversation. Bear in mind the most Sunderland paid for a player for five years was the £3million that went to Wigan Athetic for Will Grigg in 2019.'
The ambition is there then, see who else we go after

How did he quietly confirm? Was it in the press conference?

The times.

I’ve heard we defo bid and spoke to the players agent but he’s settled in London
Was always going to be the case, it’s probably a bad thing for his career too may distractions but there you go. I’m not having he’s not played that much just because, rumours of him being linked with all sorts or errrrrm women haha I think he enjoys that side of London which I can see the appeal as a young lad with a shit ton of money. Is what it is.

I would say we are as established as them now mind. I would never have expected that to be the case 6 months ago, but if anything we are the better bet for players in January.
I was wondering when people would roll out that. There’s no more excuses left any more but the established moniker 😂
