Jack Clarke

He'd count towards our homegrown numbers, which we need. But that's about the only major thing in the positive column. For the foreseeable I'm more than happy with most of our first choice options (Roefs, Alderete, Mukiele, Ballard, xhaka, Sadiki in particular will be pretty hard to upgrade on). The main question marks are out wide and up front. So if we're looking at a left sided player, for me it would have to be someone clearly good enough to improve the first team. That isn't Clarke, much though I enjoyed watching him when he was here. Him v Mundle is pretty close, with mundle 2 and a half years younger. He's not going to be as good as Talbi is. You can play Adingra there who has 70 odd PL games at a younger age and people are questioning whether he's good enough.

Really like the lad and hope he gets another PL chance. With any luck a promoted side will sign him (if Ipswich don't go up) and will play him in his favoured position to give him a real chance, but can't see any argument for us doing it

Surely he looked at their squad and the way McKenna plays (and never deviates from) before the move? Davis will always be his left wing back.
He’s barely played in his real position there. Then when he does and doesn’t score or have a good game he’s out. They were never going to play to his strengths like we did, it was another clue in the wtf are you doing before the move.

Exactly mate. One of McKenna’s main gameplans is getting Davis down the left and crossing the ball.
There simply isn’t room for him in his favoured position there and he’s looked poor whenever I’ve seen him tucked-in.

Not worth 15/20m upgrade.

The clubs ambition is far higher than some fans
I wouldn't have him back largely because he couldn't wait to get away. Was looking for a move a year before he went but was persuaded to give it another year. Think we can do better now.

Ipswich would struggle to get their money back given that he's a bit part player for them.

I always said he was never good enough for the PL. class championship player but he was a run cut in and shoot merchant, not enough to be a regular starter in the PL

Bloke wanted to leave and thought he was beyond Sunderland.

Funny how that turned out.
I dint thunk he thought he was beyond us, it was a chance to have a crack at the prem, chances like tgat don't come round too often and he had to take his chance.
We were looked after financially and he also got a wage increase. In many ways it suited both parties

Couldn't believe the amount of people on here who managed to kid themselves into thinking that Clarke had no role in Harte publicly stirring the pot. Harte is a weapons-grade knacker but there's no way that he makes the sort of comments prior to the opening game against Ipswich a couple of years back without Clarke being happy for him to do so.

If your pining for Jack Clarke not Oscar Bobb then you really aren’t understanding the level we are now at.
