Ross Stewart

Didn’t he get slated early on at Sunderland?
Not at all. He was backup to Wyke when he first signed during the spell where Wyke banged goals in for fun but it was clear he had potential and lots of people called for them to start together. Wyke missed a couple of games towards the end and Stewart looked good in his place and scored a good goal down Plymouth. Then they played together in the play offs and both scored. We let a 30 goal striker leave for free but most people were quite happy and comfortable not replacing him because of the confidence they had in Stewart. Then he hit the ground running at the start of the season and was immense.

A player who was guaranteed to get supporters off of their seats. You just knew that if he'd got away from the defenders the ball was going to end up in the back of the net.

Up there with Phillipsy and Gabbers for me.

I’m pleased for him.

LND was fantastic for us.
I loved him. He was fantastic in that 2021/22 promotion season. I genuinely think he had the ability to play at a much higher level. He was capable of scoring all sorts of goals.

He would have been on a relative pittance in football terms given his ability so it was hard to begrudge him moving on at the age he was. He deserved a big contract.

Wish him all the best. Would be nice to see him at the SoL as a guest in the future.

Typical of his luck to score 2 in a win and look like he was on his way back just to get injured again. Hopefully he will play again but it must be getting harder for him with every comeback.

I think he could of done ok in prem but looks like we were really lucky to keep him fit for as long as we did, the only positive for Stewart is the money he’s made, maybe a move back to Scotland might be an option

Had everything you'd want in a striker, apart from that injury record. Still think he'd have done well in the PL if he could have gotten past his injury woes.

What a truly awful league one experience we had.
it was shite like

I thought it’d be fun.. I mean it was for the first season, visiting them little shithole grounds n that, but four seasons.. what a grind toward the end. Looking back on it now I cannot even remember who we conquered in the play-off semi. I remember Portsmouth in the first season.

Sheff Wed

feel very sorry for the lad (bank balance aside) but fuck me we had southamptons pants down when we sold him!

Gave us some great memories, wish him all the best and gutted for him he’s had the injuries he’s had.

But, what astute business it was selling him for the money we sold him for, when we did.
