Ross Stewart

Most of the players we had from 2017-2025 were very 'for the time' - fine for where we were but probably wouldn't really be remembered in years to come. There's only a handful of exceptions who I really looked forward to watching and were shining lights in a generally shit period - Stewart, Clarke, McGeady and O'Nien (more for his personality than anything else).

He deserved the contract, we just unfortunately (or in hindsight, fortunately) weren't in a position to give him it. Glad he's had a few years on decent money but it's a terrible shame how it's panned out for him. Wish him well.

Had he not got injured he was about to get us promoted on his todd in our first season back in the championship, was on course for 35+ goals or something
I think he got 10 or 11 in 18 games. Scored loads off the bounce around new year. I think going up that season we’d of been worse off than now. I don’t think I look back sad, because this previous may was biblical!

From what I remember he was injured when we signed him and early into his Sunderland career. Feel free to correct me if a meringue. Ross was great for SAFC.
I think you’re right, but from memory it was a short term knock and nowt like the injuries he’s endured since then
