I’ll add Stoke away in the snow to this list.
These who are moaning about not getting away tickets have never had the chance of experiencing such delights

This would be best case scenario, because our system is the fairest that I've seen and I wouldn't want it to have to change. As I've always said a "closed shop" this season is absolutely fair enough.

Much has been made of how shite our away support was at your place last week (I agree, I was in the away end)
The usual reasons given are the significant proportion that go to corporate, and the "ballot"
But the reality is that far and away the biggest reason our away support has nose dived is that a loud minority of season ticket holders who never fancied attending away games when we were shite, kicked up a fuss about being "locked out' of away games after the takeover.
The club introduced strict ID checks, that meant any season ticket holder caught giving their ticket out would lose all their loyalty points (remember ours don't reset).
Now on paper it's hard to disagree with, seems fair enough.
In reality the same season ticket holders who offer nothing to the atmosphere at home games are now attending away games for the first time in their lives, as points are dropping much lower.
The "daft lads" that used to get tickets on the bus, are now the ones locked out.
I’ll put it in “Janet & John” language for you.Oh right. Cool story bruh.

I’ll put it in “Janet & John” language for you.
1. Do you think that the current rules around away ticketing are correct?
2. If yes, do you think that the club is correct in enforcing these rules?
There are too many people on here (yourself included I suspect) that would answer “Yes” to 1 and “No” to 2 which is really an untenable position.
Enjoy your day at work.
Fair point, but always remember that you don’t “have to go” to a single game to build points.
1. Do you think that the current rules around away ticketing are correct? Here's another 1.
Absolutely no ideas who you who. Neither do you know me.
Nor ever will. Yet in what other part of life would you try too assume what a complete strangers thoughts are.
Only on a public message board.
I certainly will Janet. And the same to you.
It’s a fair point but in reality, £570 a year is not a great deal these days for 19 away games. Even if you attend 10 and sack off 9 without selling the tickets, £57 a game is still good value.Agreed but everyone keeps focusing on the people moving their tickets on if there was no one buying them off then it would sharp stop and would then mean more tickets for those lower down on the points scale…..well either that or they’d actually go, or throw money away just to get a point and we would have much emptier away ends
I have replied previously in this thread regarding point harvesters. Not a single person has suggested this scenario.
As has been said many times on here, “putting in miles” and obtaining BCPs are in no way linked.
What is linked is purchasing tickets and receiving BCPs- I have certainly “put the miles in” on behalf of others in my time.
With regards to Man City and Liverpool, you either misunderstand or are pretending not to understand how this works.
The games that the Harvesters don’t attend tend to be the less glamorous games or those with longer journeys or at difficult times- witness how many tickets were openly available for Brighton at the weekend. Purchasing tickets for these games and then passing them on/ selling them is done IN ORDER to be able to attend the glamorous games like Liverpool and Man City.
I genuinely thought that a tiny percentage of tickets were passed on but having read this thread coupled with the outrage from people being asked to “drag” their driving licence about with them leads me to believe the issue is probably far bigger than anyone thinks.
Your post was way longer than his tbfOh right. Cool story bruh.

Stoke away for me was the worst. Only just made it back to the M6 in the car the snow was so bad. Then a struggle all the way down the M6 and M1. Horrific. Then the M25 east, managed about 10 miles and then everything came to a standstill. Loads of lorry's couldn't get up a small incline so we were stuck there. 7 hours for less than 150 miles and we had to stay on the M25 overnight. Sat there watching guys build snowmen on the motorway. Mad.Demand will ease.
Because once people have done "1 rotation " of away grounds, unless a new team comes up.
People arent as interested
Take City away the other week, its not a great away day, nothing near the ground for away fans, not the best of grounds, etc. I went beause id not been for years.
I wont be going next season though.
I remember Stoke in the snow.
Absolutely baltic.
Accrington in the rain was "fun" as well.![]()
This is why there should be a way to legitimately gift a number of tickets a season (with the point going to the attendee).I have replied previously in this thread regarding point harvesters.
I was once one myself and accrued a lot of points from matches that I did not attend.
I did also attend and gain a point for these high point holders myself so it balanced out over the course of a few years.
I mentioned previously that I regularly offload away tickets for people I know who are top point holders. They are now 'shitting' themselves because of these checks.
Funnily enough, they are not doing Brighton nor West Ham but when I asked if they would be attending Newcastle away their answer was, of course.
The issue is most definitely bigger than people think. These checks, if they were to come in permanently would most certainly see a reduction in the amount of people in the high point bracket.
I think we should have a ticket resale for away ticketsThis is why there should be a way to legitimately gift a number of tickets a season (with the point going to the attendee).

There probably isn't that much demand for an official resale as the whole purpose of the points hoarders is to sell the ticket but keep the pointI think we should have a ticket resale for away tickets
The original buyer loses the point and it goes to the new buyer
Not denying it happens with the branches, though probably not to the extent people think. But I think the club always tolerated it with the branches to an extent because they are a net positive. Coach travel is expensive, there are very fine margins between it being financially viable or not and the people who run the branches often take the hit when people don't turn up or when they can't fill a bus. They obviously can't sell a coach seat to someone without a ticket so if they're able to keep a handful of spares they can sell ticket + travel - those couple of seats might be the difference between being able to put a coach on or not.the club should look at this and also the branches who have a 'reserve list' which is basically what's happening in the highlighted bit.
only read the last few pages of this and it seems there are a lot who regularly become ill or unable to travel at the last minute and even a suggestion tickets should be able to be given away legitimately 2/3 times a season. quite laughable really imo.
Never heard that before.Probably an unpopular opinion but it seems likely to me the biggest culprits of points harvesting belong to branches.
I suspect that turning a blind eye is now being fully taken advantage ofNot denying it happens with the branches, though probably not to the extent people think. It's about 20 years since I used to travel with a branch (all on my own ticket) but there were some very unique and dedicated individuals for whom following the club was their sole passion in life but without the branch wouldn't be able to organise transport on their own, for example, because of age, loneliness, learning difficulties etc. Think the club always turned a blind eye and looked after the branches because a couple of tickets here and there made very little difference in the grand scheme but could be the difference between some of the most dedicated (and potentially vulnerable) fans being unable to travel, 99.9% of whom have done the miles religiously for decades in their own right.
I believe the branch applications used to be processed seperately to ensure they could all sit together, which is where the idea of them getting special treatment comes from even though they still needed the requisite points, but that isn't the case anymore AFAIK and they have to get them the same as anyone else. Think really it's the Facebook group they need to target as people on there are just taking the piss for no other reason other than Scrafton's vanity.

Know of at least one branch (and there are likely others) who ring round checking whether a number being used or not and if not using that the fill their bus
Ticket Office should target the ' fans " selling on their away tickets on Scafton's Facebook page for ID checks
