Little known fact these days, but Willow's big break in 1990 were the public address installations we completed to a few football stadiums.

So it is fitting that one of the last installations completed in my tenure as Managing Director was the North and South stand LED displays at Sunderland Football Club.

I'd like to thank Chris Ferguson at who managed this complex installation at the club, for his project assistance, and a special thanks to and his team of exceptional specialist engineers.

And finally and for the amazing LED.

Are they the same size?

Probably been answered many times before but any one know why when the North Stand was expanded, it didn't go all the way back and the beems were lowered above, always done my OCD head in that it doesn't match the West stands beams.

Sunderland's North Stand at the Stadium of Light was expanded with an extra tier in 2000, increasing the stadium's capacity from its initial 42,000 to nearly 49,000, a significant early development after the stadium opened in 1997.

Was more meaning the drop down of about 6-7 rows from the North-West Upper Corner and the drop in the beams to match.

I think it's do to with the position of the road along the back of the north stand between the stadium and the aquatic centre. I don't think that land belongs to SAFC, so the extension was built horizontally "outwards" as much as they could , but it's slightly less wide than the west stand .

That's why as soon as the corner starts and the stadium moves away from the road, they could add the extra rows above

someone said it was to do with mine vents being in the way.

What mine vents ? There over by the aquatic centre..it's the road that stops the stand from going any further back

Just look on Google maps satellite view
nee idea mate just saying what i read on here.... think its mentioned in the plans or something that they couldnt go further due to mine vents

It's because of the road.

The original design illustrations showed the whole corner to be 6-7 rows shorter then the West Stand (there's a pic kicking about somewhere), rather than half/half that we ended up with.

Edit, here's the pic....
