How Have You Managed This ?

Anyone who thinks xG is pointless because of our situation with it clearly doesnt understand the concept on xG.

All the professional gamblers who make long term profits use xG models.

The main reason we have done so bad on xG is a combination of a bit of luck so far this season (we most probably are currently overperforming), we sit back and soak pressure which can generate more shots from the opposition, but these shots usually don't rack up big xG numbers as they can be hit and hope type shots, outside the area etc. we have a really good goalkeeper that has saved us points this season and just the complete determination and desire not to lose games. Let's face it without our immense defence this season we would be comfortably in the bottom half of the table i think, in attack is where we lack and it shows on our attacking xG numbers.

Because being solid defensively and getting the overall balance right is as important as one offensive metric taken in isolation?

Good answer. That's what you are a solid defensive side without any real 'game changers' and that's what Leeds are at the moment although we have had to go to a back five to achieve this as you often do. PL games are fine margins, I don't subscribe to the view that Sunderland have been lucky and Leeds have been unlucky but I do think some fine margins have gone your way and gone against Leeds and I do think we will be a lot closer to each other when the final table that does really matter is complete. We were the better team in our last away game at Brentford who have the best home record in the league and we just thrashed Palace who have the best away record in the PL and I am pretty sure it will be a close game at your place, despite the fact that you have a number 16 in the 2024 Ballon d'O playing for you.

What the hell are xpoints?
Undercover police work of smoking out the dangers to society.

Will you stop talking as tho you’re as good as us ffs.

Maybe i'm just old here, but some of these stats are so shit and pointless

Assist - it needs the goal scorer to score and some of them the striker has a lot of work to do still, so its really just a pass. Only the goal scorer deserves the stat

Defenders getting clean sheet stats - yes they play a part but what if the keeper saves a penalty that said defender gave away. The keeper is the only one that deserves that stat.

Successful dribbles - what counts as a dribble? do you have to round a player? do you have to hold onto the ball for a certain amount of time? such a dubious stat

Fouls - a stat controlled by the refs discretion. Shouldn't be taken serious at all

There are more but, XG - the worst of them all. Such a pointless stat. Seems like a mag just invented it one day to use as some sort of argument

But we do have that immense defence and are not in the bottom half of the table. What is your point?

When it comes to scoring goals we are actually better, it's just taken us a while to get the right defensive mix of new and old players. I am actually one of the more balanced Leeds fans most are predicting an easy win at your place with comments like 'if we can't beat a team with Ballard and Hume in defence we don't deserve to be in the PL', I keep warning them it will not be that easy.
