It’s also true, i think, that counter attacking teams generally outperform xg. The chances the opposition get are less likely to score than the average because of the deeper defending; the chances we get are more likely to score than average because defenders are out of position.
We have also tended to sit back after scoring - once we are ahead we are therefore not creating much xg
