Australia v England, 3rd Test, 16th December , 23.30

I disagree. He's there to score runs and be a top performer. He isn't doing that and has thrown his wicket away quite often with wreckless cricket shots that the Australian bowlers know he'll do so they keep laying the bait. A highest score of 52 with an average of 28 isn't good enough and is a big issue after 5 innings. In comparison Starc is averaging 76, Carey 82 and Head 70. Jorfa Archer is averaging 33. Brook needs to get his finger out his arse as he should be doing a lot better.
I think Brook is a very high quality player but he missed the India tour and isn't performing here. Makes him look like a flat track bully.

He is another one who needs to learn how to adapt, he is probably a victim of the regime in how it has spent a large period of time almost promoting no accountability.

My biggest worry, probably in life, is that he is next in line to be captain. He does not strike me as a leader at all and if we are being totally honest, I imagine he needs help tying his shoelaces.

He would. Div 2 is shite. If people think Ahmed is the answer they don’t watch. He’s erratic and not a Test level bowler. He might develop into a decent batter but again looks like a Baz Baller
There is something whatsoever to suggest Jacks would take wickets in division 2

He’s also a baz baller with the bat, that’s why he plays so much white ball stuff

Ahmed has taken 28 more career wickets than Jacks, in 22 less games. There is less than a run in their batting averages and Ahmed has more centuries.

He would be a risky selection as a front line spinner, but he is better than Jacks.

So the ashes series which should last for 25 days is effectively over in 10
Was on my bucket list, isn't anymore
Yeah was for me. 10/11 was so fun I would have loved to do it at some point

Now absolutely zero point in playing this series over there or anyone wasting their money going.

Easily could be 5-0 again. Really should have been 5-0 in 17/18 and 21/22 too.

Spot on.

What’s most frustrating is

1) Hazelwood has missed all 3 tests
2) Cummins has missed 2
3) Smith and Lyon missed 1 each
4) Khawaja has looked shot for a year, Marnus until recently the same

It was such an opportunity, and we played like such twats at Perth

His bowling is a work in progress, but he didn’t have a bad season last year.

Batting wise he scored more tons last season than Jacks in his entire career
That’s the worst thing of the lot failing or even getting close to them taken into account the quality players they have had missing.

The quality of the bowling Archer aside has surprised me if I am honest.

They have batted better, bowled better and fielded better!

Sad all around

Agree re Bairstow - he's had to bat numerous positions and always done more than ok. I'd have him in as a specialist bat in this team

Bairstow was treated similarly by the public as Crawley and Pope at times. He was inconsistent and a bit of scapegoat because of this, not always wrongly either as I think he was lucky to play 100 tests and sometimes I think people's viewpoints were formed by him being a bit of a dick or prickly when criticised.

That said, England did seem to drop him shortly after his best run for them since 2016, which didn't make a lot of sense.

I wouldn't put it that bluntly but I am puzzled by the aim of his posts. Constant contradictions to others' posts but never any justification for them.
Harry brooks record speaks for itself I'm not going to worry about a bad series which everyone has of course he needs to play more sensible.

Him having bad series isn't concerning he's always played silly shots but he will go back to scoring loads literally least of our issues

It's massively concerning. We had high hopes on him to score runs and he just isn't doing it and after 5 innings, that has to be a concern. 1 or 2 failures then fair enough, but he's onto 5 now and that is massively concerning. This isn't Yorkshire vs Glamorgan in April or Zimbabwe in May at home. This is arguably the pinnacle of Test Match cricket and he's just not delivering (he isn't the only one either). There is a lot of concern with this series so far regarding performances and Brook's batting, mentality and low scoring is one of those concerns which is a reasonable criticism to make so far.

The series will be all irrelevant after tomorrow and this lot will go down in the history books of failing massively and losing The Ashes in 10-11 days.

Absolutely nobody is doubting Brook is talented, however he is incredibly stupid at times and he seriously needs to adapt to the game situation otherwise we'll just keep pissing in the wind as teams will just lay the bait which is what Australia have done massively, especially in the first 2 tests which nobody can really dispute.

To clarify.... Nobody is doubting his talented Harry Brook is.
