Will Jacks - 2/105 & 1/107* - in this Test so far. The last bowler to concede 100-plus in both innings of an Ashes Test was Shane Warne (6/122 & 6/124) at The Oval in 2005.

Atleast warned picked up a fifer in each innings

And unusually amongst this lot, he played plenty of domestic cricket this year. He is a major prospect and it's not a bad thing that he will remain unsullied and undamaged by this horrendous tour.

I disagree. He's there to score runs and be a top performer. He isn't doing that and has thrown his wicket away quite often with wreckless cricket shots that the Australian bowlers know he'll do so they keep laying the bait. A highest score of 52 with an average of 28 isn't good enough and is a big issue after 5 innings. In comparison Starc is averaging 76, Carey 82 and Head 70. Jorfa Archer is averaging 33. Brook needs to get his finger out his arse as he should be doing a lot better.

Jacks has bowled 39 overs in Adelaide for 207 runs, I think he only bowled 49 FC overs this summer. Who would have thought he might struggle to hold down an end in test cricket?

The worst thing is, the Aussie's have barely had to turn up so far. They were without their captain and one of the best bowlers in the world for 2 tests, one of the best batsmen of a generation for this one, Hazlewood, one of the best bowlers in the world is out for the duration of it and their batting line-up includes a debuting Wetherald who looks like he can't score a run if you bowl at his body, Green who is batting 2 places too high and Inglis who had played 2 tests before this series. They even threw in Doggett for the first two tests for debut after looking quite average IMO during his spell at Durham and let's not mention Neser bowling 75mph and skittling us in Brisbane. Those types of bowlers are cannon fodder in Australia aren't they?

A geriatric Khawaja has rocked for this test at the 11th hour and scored more runs in it that Pope and Duckett have in the entire series so far.

Hopefully this will see the back of McCullum and Key, but the latter will likely end up back on Sky so we really can't win. It's a cruel world sometimes.

I also thought when seeing the Aussies team that this was a great opportunity.....I would have picked more England players in a combined 11 than Australians..... I knew top 3 were vulnerable but not as bad as they have been......4,5,6 and 7 was just a run machine for us...and our tail was far superior to Australia.....but we ve been completely outplayed and some of the dismissals have been horrendous.
As for the bowling attack I genuinely thought ours on paper for first 2 tests was way better than Australia...how wrong have I being..... think this is the most disappointing England performance I've ever seen on tour. Where we go from here, with no one really waiting in the wings to improve the squad, is beyond me.....Key, McCullum etc have wasted 4 years....the ECB with their horrendous 100 competition and summer scheduling are culpable too.

I read a comment from Mark Ramprakash that he has young players asking him how they should play...to be noticed I need to be ramping, dancing down wicket, reverse sweeping etc....so you can see young cricketers are baffled on how to approach their career.
 
I fear another heavy defeat is incoming
Basically England have been second best in all departments
Their overall preparation was poor and if it was a Christmas dinner it could be described as undercooked cold and raw
In respect of Carse he has done very little for Durham in truth and with his erraticness of length and line I'm not surprised at the waywardness in his contribution
 
What’s most frustrating is

1) Hazelwood has missed all 3 tests
2) Cummins has missed 2
3) Smith and Lyon missed 1 each
4) Khawaja has looked shot for a year, Marnus until recently the same

It was such an opportunity, and we played like such twats at Perth

Batting wise he scored more tons last season than Jacks in his entire career

Will Jacks would destroy Div 2. Honestly if Rehan Ahmed is the future we are more fucked than I thought.
