Australia v England, 3rd Test, 16th December , 23.30

Don't worry, I think every England fan is right there with you on Pope

It would right now, but this Aussie attack will not be around in 2 years.

Think he batted all right. Panesar made his debut alongside Cook and Chef got a 100 on debut with Monty bowling superb.

Doesn’t need to be! Doggett and Neser caused us all sorts of bother as well.

No-one is even mentioning any of that on my Kayo commentary.

The umpires finger did not go up, he seemingly sent it upstairs to check if it carried but with no on-field soft signal of out. He then got the full review treatment without DRS being asked for.

It’s a shambles without the technology being totally cack.
They don’t do soft signals anymore. Dropped that about two years ago. They send it to DRS when there is doubt about whether it was a fair catch. But once they have done so, the third umpire according to the protocol just reviews the whole thing.

You can maybe argue he was a bit feeble sending it upstairs because it clearly carried. But the process was correct.

We’ve got one of the best keepers in the world sat at home in favour of a batsman who can keep a bit.

We’re playing a batsman who can bowl a bit instead of picking a frontline spinner.

And that’s before you get to the repeated selections of dross like Crawley and Pope.
Is Foakes young enough to come again?

Fair play. I got that badly wrong.

I’ve just read it was scrapped to avoid confusion. Smith looked pretty confused by the process
