Any how many of those kids go on to play first class or international cricket?

Durham's age group squads are still disproportionately occupied by private school kids. Even if it's at a lower proportion than the rest of the counties.
I would add, it's definitely the reason why Australia are just better than us in terms of resilience and fight.

No surprise that Ben Stokes didnt have any private education.

Didn’t he go to Sedburgh school? I could be totally wrong about that but I thought he did.
 
I'd say Durham have produced a lot of local lads from all backgrounds who have gone on to play 1st class and international cricket.

Cricket setup in the North East is very healthy
 
Is Durham any different from any other county when it comes to junior levels?

Certainly, back when I played, the vast majority of juniors at Surrey were from Private/Independent schools. Us plebs mainly played to district level only.

Probably the two extremes. Surrey have Whitgift, Cranleigh, City of London etc who provide a regular supply of quality prospects;can't recall Durham or Barnard Castle Schools supplying any to Durham. Muchall finished his schooling at Durham,I believe, but on a sport's scholarship because of his cricket promise.

That's not my point. I'm saying that any kid in County Durham can play cricket at a local club, regardless of (lack of) wealth. It's got nowt to do with going on to play professionally.

You've gotta look at the average Joe Public's interest in our day to day lives....most don't give a monkeys and only a few I know at work had knowledge of the series starting let alone playing haha
