ID checks for away tickets

Aye- we’re aware of the short comings of the ticketing system but we have to believe that it could improve.

Theoretically, a ticket could be issued and reallocated instantly with a robust system in place.

I assume you’d be in favour of any such improvements that would means the literalist fans get to be in the away end.
Do the club receive anything from the resale of tickets? Could that be the reason they would prefer this?

I've been told by a lad who works on the Man City / Etihad campus that the turnstiles we used at the weekend were only installed this summer, and include facial recognition software.

Whilst it's primarily been put in place to quickly identify those banned from grounds, there is also a suggestion that other PL clubs will follow suit and, in due course, your facial scan at the ground will need to correspond with a photograph held / data received from the issuing club. So basically not dissimilar to these automated passport machines at the airport.

It might take a few years, but I can see it coming and at that point, each PL club will know exactly who is in their ground and if they 'deserve' to be there (on their terms, of course).

I went in the home end with a cap on, they can stick there facial recognition up there arse.

There’ll be no issue if the ticket is in your own name. Surely people don’t buy tickets to build up points and then pass them on to others?

I go all over. From as close as boro/leeds to bastard plymouth (great away day mind).
Against City I had a ticket but due to the bairns presentation I gave my ticket away to my brother.
If I would have been banned for that, would that be fair?

Just playing devils advocate but you could have just not bought a ticket if you knew you couldn't make it. Unless the bairn's presentation was a last minute arrangement.

People suggesting a ballot simply didn’t want to bother with games in the championship but now want a ticket for the mags, Spurs, City etc.

Under 18s are a different issue as a lot of them weren’t old enough to go say 3 years ago.

If they bring in a ballot say for under 18s only as certain people are suggesting, that could only be for people aged 14-17 as anyone under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Are people suggesting we reduce the allocation of say 3k by 300 for corporate, 300 for an under 18 ballot resulting in there b ing 2-2.4k available on the loyalty points system after taking out staff/players tickets?

I suspect it’ll get worse next season as we lose points from the 1st championship season and there were a lot of fans who didn’t go 2nd half of the Beale/Dodds season so they’ll drop even further down the chain. Those that showed loyalty and continued going during that time will be rewarded with the opportunity of going to games, potentially in higher phases.

Fans who started going regularly in the Beale/Dodds season will go from phase 3 this season to phase 1 next season as they barely lose a point in the cull at the end of this season, but they’ve built up points from Beale/Dodds season onwards and have managed to get tickets (and therefore points) in the fastest finger 1st phase 3 this season for virtually every game so they’re moving up the ladder.
This. I’ll only lose 6 points at the end of this season

So ion that basis, you would have no objection to someone selling a ticket they had bought for, say, a couple of hundred quid?

If they bought it, they can do what they like with it.
Exactly like I say there ticket they can do what they want but there ***** if they do that to fellow fans
I ended up with a spare for Wembley last year didn’t know until the day, sold it face value

He isn’t doing that though. He said he gives it to his son.
I can’t see any problem with that at all.
Out of 3000 away fans , how many do you think are doing it?
I think it will be tens rather than hundreds.
Havent heard anything about anyone getting caught on Saturday.
It's a non story
When I had loads of points there as the odd ticket I gave away for nowt on here when something cropped-up and I couldn’t make the game. Sometimes it happens.
I would say it was probably three times. I very much doubt people not using their tickets is widespread.
There is no point, surely?

Where need clamping down is Facebook not branches or genuine fans. Surely won’t take much for someone from the club to look on the pages and see for example father jack hackett has his for sale right deactivate that and see who turns up

What I was highlighting was the “it’s my ticket, I can do what I want with it” attitude is the defence of all ticket touts. Anyone who subscribes to this is basically (knowingly or not) supporting the touting of tickets.

There is obviously an issue with the current system which needs a lot of thought and consultation to repair.

Plenty of here are supporting resale via Facebook- after all, “it’s their ticket so they can do what they like with it.”

people are overlooking the fact that the absolute vast majority using someone else's ticket have made the first move and it isn't folk punting their ticket for a point. I wasn't going to Anfield, I work during the week, no intention of buying a ticket. I was approached by 3 separate people who could go and wanted to go and I said my ticket's there if they want it. What's the issue like? In the end they were all sorted before I even saw the messages (because I work during the week!) but regardless I couldn't go so I could have helped someone else out who could go.

One of those who approached me was a parent off my junior u10s team who wanted to take their son (my striker) to his first away game. I mean how dare they!

My best mate used my ticket for City for his younger brother. Again I had no intention of going or buying a ticket because I couldn't go (and I can't be arsed with the hassle of trying to sell on a ticket I knew I couldn't use) and he approached me so I said crack on.

The ticket office haven't got a clue.

Got a txt yesterday asking if one of the lads could use mine as you say it’s midweek and I’d struggle to get it off, no issues crack on mate, I had no intention of buying a ticket if I don’t go I don’t buy I couldn’t be chewed

What is the club’s motivation for this though? Once a ticket is sold, they get the money back they’ve sent the home club for the tickets. Do they make from the resale site?

I just appears to be creating hassle for themselves and I doubt it is for altruistic purposes.

Probs people complaining and got to be seen to be doing something but all there doing is making it worse

If you believe this place (well the ones who suddenly what to go away all the time but only have 10 points over the last 3 seasons) about 2900. Oddly despite so many being passed on they still can’t get their hands on one. It’s really strange

Interesting. Not sure why anyone would object to being reminded that tickets should not be sold or passed on because that's all it is, a reminder. It would be useful to have greater clarity from the club on this matter generally and specifically what they're really trying to stop and what the penalties will be for those who offend
They have, the ticket touting section on the website
