ID checks for away tickets

I’ve seen a few suggestions online about a ballot system but people are a bit naive if they honestly think the club would just allow all season card holders the opportunity to apply on a match by match basis. It would just be a massive exercise and frankly a huge pain in the arse for the ticket office staff.

If they did ever go to a ballot system, it’s almost certain that you’d need a new membership on top of your SC. You’d be asked to commit at the start of the season and then pay X for the privilege.

I can tell you now that a lot of the people who are unhappy with the present system, won’t pay for a membership. Especially if they just want to go City away etc.
I wonder if people who want the ballot system would be happy if 10% of season ticket holders had it cancelled for the mags match so they could have a ballot for those tickets for anyone who wants them. After all it’s not fair that they are locked out of the derby

Imagine a lad or lasses season ticket 30/40year your ticket has been cancelled for the derby so we can have a ballot because Dave couldn’t get 1 and is complaining 😂😂

Same for season tickets next season. Select 10% and cancel their renewal invitation to enable “new” fans to be able to buy a season ticket?
Wouldn’t go down well would it let’s be honest, was up roar this year when they fucked a few peoples ticket up.
But on this away ticket thing branches getting so many. Just got a txt asking for me money for spurs away only got 1 ticket he needed a 150 and got 70

So you fully agree that people with no points and sometimes not even a season card are standing in our away end.

Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if that was the case , but I’d counter that by the majority of those have been supplied tickets through corporate or players supplying those tickets.

I’m not sure this is an exact like for like mate

….which is something you support as you have already said the current system is fit for purpose and you believe nothing needs changing.

I would like to see the supporters who do the most miles rewarded for their efforts. You, and several more on here, would rather that was not the case.

As I said, it’s about opinions.

When discussions like this come round i always wonder where that woman is now who was complaining at the first open meeting the club did after we got relegated into League 1.
She asked Donald and Tony Davison why she couldnt get a ticket for Wimbledon away even though she had no loyalty points 😂.
The system we have is fair and i would be very disappointed if we went down the route of ballots and memberships though if we ever qualify for Europe I would expect the club to introduce the latter asap. For me, ID checks on away fans is a soft target. Clubs should be going after resale sites and corporate resellers which is where the real touting and scalping is going on. Made worse by digital ticketing and the likes of Ticketmaster.

Is this is your aim on here?
Fucks sake, what a strange way to live.
Not at all. I think you misunderstood the comment.

I was using rattled as an adjective, not a verb and pointing out that a poster, who regularly trolls my posts, gets upset when I choose to ignore his childish interjections.

Even throughout this thread you haven't got many people arguing against rewarding genuine loyalty...i.e. people with 50 points who have been to 50 games.

The only valid point imo, is how do kids get onto the ladder. Unfortunately it's just a by-product of success - that demand will be high for tickets and it becomes increasingly difficult to get them.

If we stay in this league any length of time then I could see the club going down a ballot / membership route - just as another revenue stream and to give a small percentage of people the chance to get a ticket. Not sure whether I agree with it mind - as the people who are saying that those who put the most genuine miles in are those most deserving of the tickets. Especially if you travelled away during the shit show of Beale etc.

Wow.

Another one advocating a system that allows people with zero points to be occupying a space in the away end that could be filled by regularvaway attendees.

Seems indefensible to me but amazing people think it’s fair.

The whole uproar over tickets is because people haven’t been arsed going over the past three seasons but want to go now…

Was never a problem over the past 15 years but let’s pander to those that couldn’t be arsed to go to Plymouth/portsmouth/ Cardiff/swansea/Bristol etc etc.
Now they want to go to the Emirates and Etihad it’s a problem 😂
Oh a gtf 🎣
If we are in a relegation battle next yr and losing regularly it will be easy to get tickets too.
Ive been at man city away when we haven't come close to selling out
This season is an anomaly and the hysteria is a bit melodramatic

Fair enough
I just hate the whole 'rattled' and smiley face emoji wum posts enjoyed by a few

The system is fair if it's not being abused.

But it quite clearly is being abused in a minority of cases.

Just been in ticket office trying to get me sisters mags ticket sorted as 2 would download the other wouldn’t got talking, she got on about away games saying they have a massive problem of people buying tickets and selling them on. Also said for nufc there will be spot checks to make sure the people who are there are who bought the tickets etc

The system is probably fair in principle (though as others have said, there probably needs to be some concessions made for younger fans) but in practice, it is open to abuse and therefore clearly unfair.

Reading through this thread, it is obvious how much abuse of the system goes on and even more surprisingly, how people feel they are entitled to ignore the rules of the system in place.

if you think it's fair that someoneone on 19 points misses out on a match to someone with zero, thats up to you. I personally wouldn't defend that system though.

Nope, I'm on mid teens points wise and miss out.

I've posted a few times about how I know of a dozen folks who were at Old Trafford on close to zero, and lads in the south who don't even have season tickets getting to London games.

I'm all for ID checks.

The system is as good as it will get.

The problem with it ballot is that tickets are then allocated randomly, so all too often people end up in areas/seats they don't want to be in. This is where the "stand where you want" culture comes from. A ballot would mean the end of aways for me, as step free or almost so is vital for me. Being able to choose my own seat is an essential
