Test cricket is the ultimate game of seperating the pretenders, the billy bullshitters and wanabees from the greats. Its the pinacle of sport.
 
Stokes looked raging, he tried to play a test match innings supported well by Jacks then those two morons swumg the bat. I wish he had some strong friends in that dressing room to push mucullom into the background and get back to playing in a sensible way for the next test. I bet he wish he still had jimmy and broady there.
On the broad retirement i thought at the time is there a part of him that can see the impending disaster and wants nowt to do with it.

He was instrumental in getting shot of Broad and Anderson in the so-called 'pace revolution'. He and McCullum told us having four out and out pace bowlers was the key to winning in Australia.

I don't think so.

I think it's probably that because Broad retired a lot more recently than the other pundits, he's got a lot more sympathy for the players. For him the memories of being tonked by the Aussies are far fresher.
 
He did sound fairly upset with some of them. Wonder if he will drop Pope for example?

Jt all seems too little too late now anyway, especially as they are bringing Cummins back as well…hopefully he’s so out of match sharpness it ends up a plus for us but I can’t see it.

Tell that to the fast medium Neser, Boland and slightly quicker Starc.

It’s where you bowl, not how fast.

Even when we won 3-1 in 2010/11, it was Anderson, Tremlett, Finn and Bresnan who bowled us to victory - none of them lightning quick, but bowled a persistent line and length, regularly bowling out a decent batting lineup

Doggett, Neser and Bolands have shown you don't need to bowl 90mph to be effective in Australia.

Matty Potts is the closest bowler we have to Broad and should probably be in at Adelaide for Atkinson imho

Absolutely. The all time GOAT Glenn McGrath in these conditions around 80mph. If you bang the ball in hard on good length on fourth stump you have more chance than trying to bully batsmen familiar with pace on these decks.

So many of these former pros, who were part of failed and successful Ashes experiences over the years, are getting their critiques spot on. It’s almost like they know what they’re talking about, from both good and bad experiences.
