ID checks for away tickets

I’m willing to wager that a very large percentage of those championing the use of ID checks as a method to control the suggested passing on of tickets, would also be in the very large percentage of people that would be against a National ID card scheme.
Hypocrisy

What’s really happening is that people are whinging that they can’t get what they want, when they want it.
The but, but, but brigade will be along shortly.

There does seem to be a growing number of adults with no loyalty points sulking about a “closed shop”

Its not just a city thing,it's a premier league thing. The premier league have a big push against touting tickets. The premier league ask clubs to try and put something like this in place to combat touting.

City are maybe that bit more compliant with the premier league at the moment

Dont shoot the messenger.
Just passing on what a supervisor steward said to me.

If what you say is correct. Its like the speed limit.

We should all do it. But not many do.

There is. Isn't there.

I do feel a bit sorry for young people who are trying to go with their mates because at present it’s very hard to build loyalty points.

But the adults moaning are doing my tits in tbh.

There are people on 15-20 points who’ve obviously put in miles who can’t get tickets who I feel for.

You’ve still got to have been a committed fan to have done that, and there shouldn’t be fan snobbery about it imo.

Oh I do get it mate for those just "joining their Sunderland supporting life" itll be near enough impossible at the minute.
However demand and interest will ease in time.

But as you say. Adults who have had ample time to put their money where their mouths are.

No sympathy.

The best 1 I hear is calls for a ballot 😂😂

No calls for a ballot for Norwich away midweek last season.....

Noone is being "snobby" there is a loyalty system in place.
And its a system which rewards those who put the most miles in. Simples.

My dad couldn't get in and we missed 15-20 mins of the match. They said it had already been used which is simply not true. He's a technophobe who can barely unlock his phone let alone share his ticket with someone else.

If they insist on digital tickets at least make sure the system works
I know of 2 people who didn’t get in yesterday as their tickets had “already been used”. Both instances those people had downloaded their tickets directly from their account. Both had multiple tickets on one device. Similar at Liverpool one guy had 7 tickets on his device and 4 got in ok and the remaining 3 tickets they initially said had been used earlier, however, the steward went through all the tickets again and eventually all 7 got in.

One of my suspicions is that with NFC the system is reading multiple tickets at the same time on occasions.

Burnley - major problems but was a new system so was expected
Palace - no problems, paper tickets
Forest - no problems, paper tickets
Man Utd - major problems, NFC
Chelsea - no problems, paper tickets
Fulham - no problems, paper tickets
Liverpool - problems, NFC
Man City - problems, NFC

That’s a very worrying trend in my opinion.

Totally agree mate and I do think the club could look at the phases again. That said, a lot of the ones I know that are sulking have no points.
Problem is there is no way to alter phases without knocking out a higher pointer in favour of a lower pointer

They need to leave it as is until end of next season to see how demand goes once the PL novelty has worn off and then look at potential solutions

I do think by the end of next season you will see games reaching lower points

There was a female dog handler who said there had been lots of people with the system saying ticket already used when it hadn't. Not good enough

Agree with this. Also think the way the fixtures have fallen hasn't helped. We haven't been on TV much and played most of the northern games early on. We will be on TV more in the second half of the season and have a lot of London / southern games coming up. It's difficult to commit in advance and book trains etc because they go on sale and the cheap tickets sell out before the TV fixtures and confirmed. We've 4 London games in the space of 5 weeks and 7 in about 8 weeks including Brighton and Bournemouth, all of which will go to low points bar Arsenal. Spurs is already down to 20+, not sure if it has sold out yet? But as you say, the Premier League novelty will wear off next season once people have ticked off these grounds. Think people need to just hold their nerve and see how it looks next season.

Out of curiosity did yous all get on the 17.59 as they split a train in half from 6 to 3 carriages. Got my connection at yours at York the 19.57 with around 7 minutes to spare

If everyone did that the away end would be half empty every week.
Aye. I guess they’d normally pass it on to a mate but even for free, the financial penalty is not huge.

Can buy a SC in the South Stand plus a ticket for every away game for less than a Founders SC.

I spoke to staff at Piccadilly and they advised as there was 120 of us to travel on the 17:58 as that was a 6 car service. The cast majority of the group travelled on that and a small number travelled on the 17:59. The 17:58 reduced to 3 coaches part way through the journey due to a fault.

Said it a million times, give us paper tickets.

It doesn’t. It rewards the people who buy the most away tickets. It should be rewards g those who put the miles in but doesn’t.

Hence the need for ID checks.

Yeah be great f***ing the branches mate. Nowt better than possibly stopping the best travel option for loads of our fans
The branches wont be fucked if everyone uses the ticket they are supposed to. Unless you think its possible branches are maybe pooling tickets across a large number of people but using a smaller sample of season tickets to do it?

If they are doing things right they will be fine.

No, they use x amount of season tickets to buy the tickets, but those people don't always go to the game who get the point. Without doing this it would be extremely difficult for branches to fill busses up I imagine, which is probably why the club "allow" it.

there used to be sometimes 4 of us in the car going to aways, now it's just 2 because the others don't have enough points which doubles our fuel cost. perhaps all us who travel by car should be allowed to get away with shenanigans to fill our seats?

Nobody cares if you and your mates don’t go though. Branches are the life blood of the support

Won't get any argument from me marra. Rewarding loyalty and more importantly genuine loyalty is the only fair way. Checking a random number of tickets with ID is also fair as long as the club give notice and outline how it would work etc. Must also be some way to allow people to transfer 1 or 2 per season maybe. But people accumulating points who don't attend is a genuine issue that will ony be worse now we are back in PL and doing well. It would probably mean that travel by the branches goes by the wayside though.
