ID checks for away tickets

ID checks were just something City have in place. If you read an earlier post.

I dont tie in with your theory.
Yes I know some maybe do periodically pass their details on.

However. No fan with say c50 points is going to put the "hard work" in by doing say the Rotherhams and Accringtons away and theb when we do get back in the big time.
Say - Oh hold on. Ill pass on Anfield, Old Trafford etc. 😂😂

That is the theory of the "Cloased shop brigade"

Not sure why you are so adamant that people won't miss a game against Man City when they have travelled to 50 other games over the last few seasons. Theres a whole host of reasons for people not to go to specific games.

Every game there will be people in our away end who have barely any points, but are using someone else's details.

Noone is adamant 😂😂

I know it happens. But not as wide scale as some as twisting about.

As someone has recently said. The amount of adults on here going on and on about away games being a closed shop is a bit boring 😴

How did your other two friends get tickets in the past for the games that they went to, did you just wait until the relevant phase?

My understanding is thatID checks are being encouraged by the PL as a temporary fix until they have a fully digital system at which point they can start using more advanced systems to enforce compliance like dynamic QR codes- this is commonplace with other forms of high value tickets and ensures the purchaser is the person attending.

Again you miss the point saying that people have had to “put the hard work in” by attending Rotheram or Accrington- there is no need to attend games to obtain a point currently. There is no hard work in purchasing a ticket.

I question the motives of anyone who objects to any steps that are put in place to ensure that points are awarded to those actually attending matches.

It would appear that you sit in this category.

Agree with this. Also think the way the fixtures have fallen hasn't helped. We haven't been on TV much and played most of the northern games early on. We will be on TV more in the second half of the season and have a lot of London / southern games coming up. It's difficult to commit in advance and book trains etc because they go on sale and the cheap tickets sell out before the TV fixtures and confirmed. We've 4 London games in the space of 5 weeks and 7 in about 8 weeks including Brighton and Bournemouth, all of which will go to low points bar Arsenal. Spurs is already down to 20+, not sure if it has sold out yet? But as you say, the Premier League novelty will wear off next season once people have ticked off these grounds. Think people need to just hold their nerve and see how it looks next season.

Spurs is a weird one. I help sort out the tickets for the people I travel with and I’ve never known demand like. At one stage, I think I has 28 down for tickets - easily the highest number of the season. I must have also had about 30 texts from people asking for cards to use (we didn’t give them before anyone kicks off 😂).

Yet, the match didn’t sell out as quick as I thought

It's not boring though is it - a closed shop because of genuine loyalty is fair enough - but it's currently not fair.

I know 9 people who went yesterday - 3 on their own details and 6 on other people's details. The people that gave up their tickets are all phase one and will have been to 85% of the games they have points for. They helped others out for different reasons yesterday.

I've been to SJP 5 times, but never using my own points. Gone are the days when I can commit every weekend and money to both home and away games. I will always want to go a handful per season and know quite a few people so can usually get sorted.

If there was a system in place for checks would these people still allow others to use their details - probably not in some cases. If that happens and I can't get to any away games then I won't moan as the reality is that I don't deserve it.

As long as there are barely any checks though then there will be people that do this and it does create a closed shop. Of course there are people who have been to every game they have a point for and use the system fairly, but there's a lot more of the shenanigans going on than you are implying imo.

I believe the PL want a similar system to UEFA in that they can track tickets if people forward them on. Effectively it will trigger a warning with the club and that person will be on the naughty list. It’s still a while away though.

From what I got told yesterday, the checks are not going to be common place this season.

I spoke to staff at Piccadilly and they advised as there was 120 of us to travel on the 17:58 as that was a 6 car service. The cast majority of the group travelled on that and a small number travelled on the 17:59. The 17:58 reduced to 3 coaches part way through the journey due to a fault.

Ha, combination of new ground but also a Sunday game that was moved weeks after the trains went on sale, just after Christmas with Brentford in the same week and other London games coming up. Have been to White Hart Lane numerous times but haven't been to the new stadium or Brentford and earmarked them both. But with the way it's panned out I can't really go to either. Would have definitely done Spurs if the date had been confirmed earlier but by the time it was the trains were £100+.

That's what I mean though, there'll be a lot more of the same in the second half of the season when Sky fuck about with games and there'll be more games go to lower phases than the first half of the season imo. West Ham 12:30pm kick off will go right down imo.

But they shouldn't be having different set of rules to everybody else. Doing that is still points harvesting and the same as anybody else doing it.

City are maybe that bit more compliant with the premier league at the moment
