Luke O'Nien

O’Nien was more consistent than Ballard in the Championship, albeit we knew Ballard had a higher ceiling. He’s shown time and again he’s a fast learner and can adapt. He got caught out by a speed of the game at a level he’s never played at after not playing for 6 months. It happens.

It saddens me that people are genuinely rattled by him being a PL squad player. If he was playing every week, I’d get it a little bit. But he’s a squad player. I think at that point it’s personal and you have to look in the mirror and ask where that personal dislike comes from after 314 games and 2 promotions at the club.

Also a good way to decipher who really supported the team in L1 or who drops by for Wembley finals and PL games.

TBF his challenge was awful.

Because the sensible and normal thing to do is react to a poor pass with a terrible tackle in the 94th minute when 3-0 down and cost your team until the new year when they're going to be short...

Hes got to make better decisions than that.
Do you think he saw the poor pass and thought right fuck that I’m chopping this lad down? It happens far quicker than that and I don’t think there’s a decision making moment where he’s decided that’s the outcome. It’s a late challenge that he’s not deliberately thought of and unfortunately it’s high and late. Le Fee deserves a bollocking for creating the situation in the first place.

Thats the situations you find yourself in at this level. Hes got to be better in these decision making moments no matter how quick it comes. He won't get many more minutes at all if he doesn't.

The reaction would have been much more angry if it was Dan Neil who did that.

Imagine the reaction had it been Dan Neil who passed him the hospital ball in the first place? There’s nothing to be concerned about here. It’s a late tackle and mistimed from a player who’s coming back from an injury and rusty. It happens. He’ll move on as should everyone else.

Agree theres nothing to be concerned about. Mainly because hes probably last choice centre back in the squad. Hopefully we don't see him coming on into midfield or on the wing either.

he’s had his little cameo let’s be honest he’s not. a premier league footballer , good for the team to be around the dressing however if he is to stay it would be as a coach for me , january onwards im expecting us to strengthen the depth of the squad and most of the fringe players like this to be moved on

I'm more interested in what the reaction would have been if it had been Neil who had committed the tackle .
It was reckless and he will now miss his chance for more game time during AFCON. When I have no doubt he would have featured perhaps not as a starter but a useful member of the squad .

As usual something on here is blown out of proportion. 99% of people aren't saying he's shite. Just that he isn't this level. It's an opinion. I'd love to know which of our defenders they'd drop for him like.
I don't think any. But when reinildo is at AFCON and humr is lb, mukiele RB, Ballard and alderette cb , we may need a sub if one gets injured.

There's lots of awful challenges by players far far better than 09. Does every bad red card immediately make them not good enough?

Just watched the clip again and come on sure it was a red but Jesus why did he roll about 3/4 of the pitch away from 09 after? Stupid little overpaid moaning mincing bastard. get up and play football instead of pissing your shorts

I think you’re correct and I’ve nothing whatsoever against O’Nien, Neil, Cirkin etc
