ID checks for away tickets

I’ve been supporting Sunderland for over 20 years I’ve been to over 40 stadiums and I go when I can to games. I can’t get a season ticket due to financial and ethical reasons. I have been there in the cold and wet in league 1, the championship and the bad years in the prem. And now they’re trying are making it difficult for people like me to go to games. This is not fair.
I’m curious 🤔

You can't get a season ticket due to ethical reasons??

Edit: ignore just seen you say it was a typo!

There's none so smug as the holier than thou
if his 'mate' doesn't have the required amount of loyalty points why should he get a ticket?
as a caveat, i'm presuming his 'mate' doesn't have the required points for the game otherwise he would already have one.
i'm not trying to be smug, just pointing out the hypocrisy being shown.

so you'd rather see a ticket go unused.
Looks like they were all sent around 6pm?

Mine arrived five past five.

I’ve got a shoe box full of tickets from 25 years of away games and it’s quite sad not to have that permanent reminder to where I’ve been over the years.
I’ve started screenshotting the digital ticket and printing it off ( in work for cost effectiveness) for that reason 🤷 sad really

I’ve no problems with them doing this. What I do have a problem with is doing it with no prior announcement that it might even happen.

There could be fans in Manchester now, who’ve gone down for the weekend, with no ID and therefore can’t access their own ticket.
Fair enough.

Hopefully, they’ll apply a bit of common sense tomorrow- bringing up a utility bill on your phone is not uncommon when I’ve seen ticket checks done in trains etc.

Got the potential to cause more problems than good imo. As an example, I live down south, mate lives up north, 6 of us going, for city we bought 4 together in Same tier phase 1, the other 2 were in phase 2 and was hoping to get same tier, we didn’t as were none, so the 4 together (2 are mine) he’ll use as it means his kids will be with him) I’ll use his two from phase 2 for me and my lad in different tier, so if he got pulled for check in, my tickets that I’m using (are his) would be deactivated until he checks in, and obviously don’t travel together so could be a right pain. Luckily none of us have had an email
It really just meet at the ground and collect the tickets surely if your mates anyways you will be meeting before the game.

i'd rather see a ticket getting put back on sale for someone who deserves it, not passed onto someone who might not have the required points.
do you have an issue with that?
there's many a thread on here regarding away tickets being a closed shop and it's no wonder folk get aggrieved when they see this sort of attitude.

Not always, he often drives, I’m always train, coming up from different ends of country sometimes trains are extremely tight and if we’re early I like to get the lad in before it’s busy. Always find each other inside but would just be a chew on to hang around depending on the circumstances

This might mess the job up for the branches.

If it’s from the club they might leave them be and just target the randoms if they are worried about touting.

Clubs have to take tickets offsale and return the unsold tickets days before the match. We're talking about people getting ill 0-24 hours before the match. There's no way the club could or would resell the ticket.
