Australia v England, 2nd Test, 4th December 0400

They’ll get a 120 lead, we’ll score somewhere between 270 and 320 and they’ll chase it down with relevant ease 3/4 down

It's like a film where there's a couple of alternative endings.

1) We get them out quick, everyone gets their hopes up, then Crawley & Duckett go cheaply. Root and Pope put on a decent stand but one falls to a good ball, the rest collapses and Australia chase down a simple total.
2) They build the lead to beyond 100, we get skittled, they chase down 40 to win.

There is no version of this film where England win.

Vaughan's point was you can't replicate a match situation in the nets.
Which is true but they weren’t replicating a match situation at the Gabba on a very fast, hard bouncy track by playing on a very slo and flat track. Playing it was probably the smart thing to do not because it would have benefited them at all but at least if they played utterly shit at the Gabba they wouldn’t have it thrown at them.

I hadn't seen Will Jacks catch so was keen to see it as I read it was 'As good as I've ever seen. My initial thought was 'is that it. It good but he's barely off the ground, I suppose they've got to over egg something to make todays shit show a bit better.

Your comment should be posted in the 1st person

More common and balanced comment is the above.
However, bask in contented mediocrity if you please.
Put me on ignore if you can't resist having a go, surprised you are watching the cricket you don’t seem to enjoy it.

Im hoping for a 3rd ending where Starc, Smith, Head and LabiaShamble get food poisoning, we manage to eek out a lead of 14 and it then absolutely pisses down on days 4 and 5

It’s got so bad our tours down under we could flip a coin before the first test to decide a 4 or 5/0 win.

It’s a disgrace this will be our 15th defeat in last 17 here it’s just the most one sided contest in sport.

I guess this will always be an issue if you perform like we did today. Personally I don’t see how playing on the slowest, lowest pitch in Australia against weaker bowlers including a 42 year old Peter Siddle is going to prepare you for facing Starc on a fast bouncy track. The bowlers woukd be bowling different lengths also. However if you turn the opportunity down and then perform like that then you are always going to get criticised.
They’ve known we had a pink ball test in Australia for 4 years. Maybe they should have organised one in England to get us used to it. But nah. Nothing is better preparation than some more f***ing golf with the lads

You have to remember this lot organised a Kookaburra experiment this year when a test match series was on, meaning no test cricketers were involved in the experiment

I'm not "having a go".Merely responding to critical comments you post without any argument to justify them. I'm very passionate about cricket, have been for 70 years, and get frustrated at what I perceive as irresponsible batting, bowling and fielding-all,of which, have been patently displayed by England recently.
By all means contradict a viewpoint but unless you offer some logic for your contradiction it's meaningless. Can't you see that?

By far from put of this match but we've got to score 400 in the 3rd innings have the pitch start to really break up at the end of our innings.

Need to get these last 4 wickets for under 50 runs then get to close something like 250-4.

Weather due on 5th afternoon so who knows.

I’ve watched every ball of this game and all the flaws we have shown are absolutely nowt to do with not being prepared for playing against a pink ball but they have just been ill equipped against fast pitches with bounce. Which is worse really. Mind you the golf stuff is just puerile immature arguments imo
