38 tests in 10.5 years says it all really. Time to move on. It was always a big ask expecting him to do much in this series when he hasn't bowled all summer.

Made of pringles, hardly ever plays 2 matches in a row!Wood likely to miss second test due to knee injury

Who gets Woods place then Tongue or Potts or they play Bashir
When he first got picked for England an NEPL player told me exactly this.Made of pringles
Sounds like a jealous twatWhen he first got picked for England an NEPL player told me exactly this.
He’s been proven right
When he only bowled 3 overs in the 2nd innings I called it that it was probably because he was injured. If he wasn't it was an absolute nonsense not to bowl him more.Wood likely to miss second test due to knee injury

Yeh,Archer and Carse for all out pace with Atkinson and Potts offering more control, hopefully. The article says Tongue is the back up unless they pick Bashir.
Personally I'd have preferred Potts.
Circa £10m from central contracts equates to £200k+ per test!38 tests in 10.5 years says it all really. Time to move on. It was always a big ask expecting him to do much in this series when he hasn't bowled all summer.
He isn’t out of the series yet mindI feel for wood, but only lasting 2 days of a possible 25 just isn’t good enough really.
In terms of who comes in, Tongue seems like the obvious choice but Potts has 2/40 today.
Blokes don’t injured on purpose. He isn’t out of the series yet mind
I must say I find the general attitude to him on this board a bit odd. He’s never been a rhythm fast bowler (Archer, Steyn, Ambrose etc). He’s chucked his entire body into it, it’s no wonder he gets injured more than most! (That’s hardly being made of Pringles)
Seems a top bloke and has decided to stick with test cricket rather than chase the white ball cash. Fair play to him
I think we also forget that England has had very few genuine quick bowlers in most of our lifetimes
It’s a function of the way he bowls, his front leg takes huge strain. He’s hardly got a smooth action where the pace comes from the wristBlokes don’t injured on purpose.
Like you say seems a very genuine bloke who has been very unlucky with injuries.
If he can only bowl 10 overs in an innings before he needs a lengthy recovery spell he's hardly suited to test cricket regardless of how explosive he may be. An average test innings probably 80-100 overs, and he can only bowl 10 overs. Puts a heavy workload on the rest of the attack if he can't recover to bowl a 2nd spell. They’re pinning some blame on the fact he wasn’t able to complete his full ‘recovery routine’ during the game due to us batting like idiots. Part of the batting side of the game many under appreciate, the need to give bowlers time to rest and recover.
I see you're reverting to selective memory mode in your initial sentence. "Proper cricket"and "Passionate supporters" also escaped your censure also presumablyPeople who put across rational and well argued points were not the ones labeled negative and whingers
The last 2 ashes before this one and plenty others we have been lambs to the slaughter.
To go there last time with openers like Burns and Hameed who put no pressure on the bowlers and just looked to defend was a bigger recipe for defeat than this approach.
But like you say we need to find the balance between the two, more than happy to accept your argument there mate that Bazball needs to adapt more at times
I certainly don’t disagree with that. He probably could and maybe should have retired from England a year or maybe even two years ago in reality. And with that, probably retiring full stop.If he can only bowl 10 overs in an innings before he needs a lengthy recovery spell he's hardly suited to test cricket regardless of how explosive he may be. With lucrative central contracts being offered he was never going to do that. He threatened to seek franchise contacts and ECB fell for it.I certainly don’t disagree with that. No, his Uncle Steve said tell them to f*ck off, sonMaybe Wood could benefit from carrying heavy sacks up to the Penshaw Monument.
It's like the 1st test of a 4 test series, just gotta win 3 of themReally looking forward to this like.
Mental it's been a fortnight since the last test![]()
I think he will play the 3rd test with a limit on how many overs per day 10 max.He isn’t out of the series yet mind
