Diarra out till December

World Cup being next summer might make him reconsider going to AFCON tbf like. Still obviously will mean a lot to him and Senegal but not sure i'd be taking any risks in a World Cup year.

Alternately may be desperate to prove himself in the team. If they win it and some young upstart is in his spot and sold to chelsea after the tournament he'll have a fight on his hands.

We need more goals in the team. Diarra will be great for tough away games sitting alongside Sadiki and Xhaka but in games where we need to be a bit more front foot I’m not sure you can really play those 3 together.
Our attacking options arent any where near good enough for top 6. Need 2 x 1st team wide attackers added. Got the defence and midfield to back them up.

Traore is ok but never gonns tear games up
Talbi has potential but that aint what we need in the big boys league right now

Regarding Diarra, Le Bris admitted that he is making positive strides on his comeback trail from an injury that has ruled him out since September.

With the Senegalese midfielder set to represent his country at next month’s 2025 AFCON tournament, Le Bris admits they will approach his comeback with caution through constant dialogue with his national team.

“Habib is making good progress at the minute,” Le Bris stressed. “He is pain-free but he still needs time to feel right within himself.

“We try to manage the output for the club and the national team so it’s a balance. We can manage that through conversation so that is ongoing.”

Sunderland's director of football, Florent Ghisolfi, has already held a number of discussions with senior figures at the Senegalese FA, and while the Black Cats will not attempt to prevent Diarra from joining up with his national side, they will hope to be involved in talks over the level of his training and playing responsibilities ahead of the tournament and in the early weeks of competition. "Those talks are already happening" said Le Bris. "Flo is connected with national teams, so there are always conversations going on.
"it's a rehab process for Habib, and we try to manage the situation between the club and the national team, not just for one or the other. I think it's really clear that the players like to be involved in their national teams, but they also know that it's important to play with their club as well, so it's a balance.
think we can manage this balance properly with conversation, and it's ongoing with Flo. He's connected with everyone. You have your own interest - especially when you're with a national team. it's a short period so you have to have your best players available but in the end, it's a balance."

Having talks is interesting, when's their first game?
