why don't you answer the original question i asked. you implied it was mainly for breakdowns etc and now you've changed your story and say you need to inform them every day you're not available.
So they get an O/T brief for the coming month.
It shows what shifts have what O/T on.
The last few months its been an hour every shift and all day Saturdays.
The staff I see have been on their knees but still get more put on them.
O/T is finished for the time being I believe

i understand that but i'm just curious as to why the poster i replied to implied one thing then changed his mind.
like you, i'm on the wagons but only go in there occasionally. the lads i deal with are sound but all like to have a bit moan.

They never admit they regret it the place has never ever been easier and you get treat better than ever infact I’d say they pander to too many soft shites these days who constantly have things wrong with them ….. apparently

People don’t like work or rules these days they just want free money

It’s the same as anywhere the bulls knackers who make shit up needing to get away or off sick spoil it for the genuine people people need to take a lot of stuff up with their fellow colleges taking the piss rather than blame the company
Never had any bother getting away early or not working it but it’s all about how you conduct yourself which is a huge problem with society these days everyone what’s to be the tough guy rebel
firstly, glad its got easier/better over time as that affects everyone on the workforce so thats a positive. Hopefully that trend continues

the last part is largely dependant on the supervisor and team leader you work for. Again going back, but it wasnt so easy to say you couldnt work a weekend for example. But again, this all comes back to what i said earlier about different people having different experiences. I approached my work the same fair way i approached this chat, so i cant see why that would be seen as a tough guy rebel at all

If you are used to working the extra hours and basing your weekends around work aswell, whilst regularly working well above the standard hours most in the UK do, then its not a bad money maker.
If you would prefer more of a work/home balance then it isnt the right place at all due to the hours expected to work. for example if you were in dayshift and they put on 6am starts and late finishes, thats 2hrs per day and 1hr friday, plus potentially a 7hour? saturday. thats 14hours extra you are required to work on a dayshift week. 33% extra hours than your standard mon-fri job or your standard hours in a lot of places. This is quite manageable as a one off for a few weeks, but when it turns in to months in a row it completely wears you down.

I never said that at all I said if you’re not available tell them at the start of shift before you start work so they can make arrange cover ! Not when they come around saying overtime is on

The problem you get is with people saying they can’t work last minute, that leaves the supervisor in a position where they may not have time to find cover. It’s got nothing to do with your supervisor or team leader they can’t force you to work if you give them notice your unavailable they all have to play by the company’s rules or they haven’t got a leg to stand on themselves.
The place is full of lazy difficult people mate who will do anything to get out of work it has a knock on affect

yes you did.
Because you said obv production planners aren’t doing their job that’s why we have to work short notice overtime , they can’t plan for Breakdowns and machinery going tits up can they ?????? That’s what I meant short notice overtime is called because targets aren’t hit because of breakdowns etc

if you'd have said what you really meant instead of being economical with what really goes on we wouldn't be having this discussion. i take it breakdowns happen every single day then?

No not at all it’s across 2 shifts remember so you can be making cars for the other shift what they have lost and vice versa , think last week I worked like 2 hours and 45 mins overtime and one day I got away normal time to goto the tip and you can’t work overtime on Friday people massively exaggerate things who either don’t work there or just dont like work in general it’s a piece of piss these days all you have to do is turn up and be on time they will even put up with shit quality and don’t even dare call people out on it anymore it’s very much pampered princesses these days nothing like the good old days.

That is definitely how I’d imagine him to be by his posts. He’s been here a fair few years as well as he likes to point out during some of his arguments in the past, so that automatically means everything he says is correct.

Can anyone remember the picture that was doing the rounds on whatsapp a couple of years ago of the lad at Unipres who apparently had a pet baby alligator. Lads didn’t believe him so he apparently turned up with it pre shift to show them. Bit random I know and it was probably not even Unipres but was talking to one of the lads about it today

And does anyone have the photo still if so?
