Quite frankly, the city center up here is nicer than Bristol nowadays. Your public transport is one hell of a lot more reliable, the city center is cleaner, the various parks around the city are better looked after, and overall the place just feels less shoddy!

I only come up to Sunderland a few times a year for football, and it feels like every time im in town I spot something that is either being built/refurbished or has been tidied up. I said a while back it feels like a city on the up.
Long may it continue.

(By contrast Durham seems to look worse every time im there)

When anyone can get a league ticket any time they want (which they pretty much could before this season) then they'll do that rather than go to an early round cup fixture. I still don’t get why so many regular match going fans don’t bother with the cup, especially with this team I’m looking forward to the fa cup as we are capable of beating anyone

Because for how ever long we’ve never taken the cups seriously. Either battling relegation or going for promotion or 4 years in league one.

It’s not that hard to work out.

Same as the mags.

What changed for them is scarcity and the takeover. Got sub 20k crowds, then when they started going for it and there was a big chance you couldn’t get a ticket for a final they locked in fans to effectively a season tickets for cup games.

They’ve created a monopoly on tickets.

We’re already seeing it happen here. Keep the trajectory going and actually having a chance of progressing and being established then crowds will increase.

Fair enough mate, I can see why that would put people off, it’s sad the cups have been so devalued I always enjoy it as less pressure , as a fan I still prioritise the league but depending on our points total come jan be great to have a real go , this team feels a bit special and momentum could take us all the way

If we have a good points total come January the club needs make a statement about having a real go and putting a strong team out to get bigger crowds

Tbh I couldn’t care less about the cups.

Survival has to be our only priority this season.

Anything else is a bonus.
 
Are we currently selling out every home game? Yes.
Could we sell more tickets? Yes.
Should we become an established premiership club, would there be increased demand for tickets? Yes.
If we were to do the unimaginable and secure a top tier finish with European football this season, would there be even greater demand for tickets? Yes.
Is our global footballing exposure increasing? Yes.
Do we believe in the most basic fundamentals of economics in terms of supply and demand? Yes.
Taking all of those factors into account, is there scope for stadium expansion soon? Yes.

Might be worth installing proper safe standing which bolt the seats up, this allows a x1.5 or even x2 ration in Germany, I believe Everton’s stadium is designed to factor this in. So if the entire south, swc and sec was done if the regs did change to allow it you would have an extra 6k spaces on x1.5 ratio, also means you can go back down if demand did drop off and you wouldn't have the empty seat issue people are concerned with, it could be done very cost efficiently too

i think our seats might already be smaller/tighter than evertons new ground mind. plus we have wheelchair sections in the middle of the stands, so i doubt the lower parts of south stand etc will ever have standing as it would be awful for people in wheelchairs to see the match.

Good point on the wheelchair set up, would need to be done in a way the lower tier doesn’t obstruct them

Wonder if they could redo the stand & replace the seats & layout slightly so you could have one big massive end without disruption to existing match day goers & achieve what was mentioned? Sure they could create an alternative to the wheelchair access & if seat layout shuffled slightly, I can’t see supporters there kicking up too much fuss as long as they were in the general area where they were previous.

I’d guess the biggest issue would be doing that amount of work whilst matches aren’t happening cos you couldn’t do major works whilst the season is on due to everyone needing to be at their seat on a matchday.
