Robin Roefs 🇳🇱 compendium

It was. Hes been beyond brilliant for us. But he shouldn't have been beaten at his near post from there. If saka scores that past Patterson there's uproar.
Nope. If he's any closer to the near post from that angle then he leaves far too much room to his right. That wasn't a mistake, it was a good strike and Roefs was unlucky not to get to it.

People need to get over this 'shouldn't get beaten at the near post' shite. It's an impossible ask.

There's an automatic assumption sometimes that a keeper conceding at the near post is always bad. It's not and it wasn't here. Given how well taken both finishes were I'd argue he did well to get as close to both of them as he did. He was fine yesterday. He's had better games, but that's largely because he's already set the standard so high than because he's done anything wrong.
Exactly this. If you completely block the near post you leave too much of a gap at the far post. It's always just a case of narrowing the angle as much as possible, but sometimes no matter how hard you make it a player will find the gap. Sakas finish had to be inch perfect and it was.

I get what you're saying. But still think he should stop that . Its hard though. And as I said been amazing for us.

Agree with this, it's like people don't actually look at the goal but just see where it took place and trot out that line.

Agreed
It is a lazy commentator's cliché to say 'should not get beaten at the near post'

It probably comes from a time long since gone - it was one of a goalkeepers cardinal sins but balls move much more and go more quickly these days - same as why many keepers parry and punch rather than try to catch as often. I wouldn't blame him for that goal yesterday, but I do think it's one he could have done better with.

Why aye man, you probably haven't even watched him play that much. Just because he now plays for the mags we don't need to pretend he's suddenly crap, have some integrity.

People like @Whey just repeating either what they've heard or what they've made up in their heads. Apparently some blokes on a forum know more than the professionals who do it for a living.

Ramsdale is a capable and established Premier League player, he's valued around the 20 million mark, he's still got room for growth, if he's in form he's around the top 10 in the league. An England international and over 70 appearances for the Arsenal.

Let's bump this at the end of the season and see who is right (it'll be me, it always is).
It's not the end of the season but *bump

He's shite

Definitely not worth 20 million pounds and he's nowhere near a top half of the prem keeper, lower mid table Championship at best. Wakoro may be needing a lost Magpie tag before long. So many mags pretending to be SUNLUN.

Him and MackemDJ should have a forum all to themselves to discuss just how terrible Roefs is. Maybe some others could join too to salk about Le Fee's clear lack of quality. If it's a success then it could be opened up to the people who said Brobbey was an Altidore regen and a last minute panic buy.

I was quoted as being "mentally unhinged" saying he was shite. Oh well, wibble
It's weird how the exact same people turn out to be consistently wrong but still hit the reset button on their brains at the end of every day. It must be great to wake up to the world as a brand new adventure every single day.

Looked like he couldn't find a Sunderland man with a single pass all game then pulls off the pass of the season out of nowhere that could have won us the game. It's a funny old game.
He was seeing them in the black kit and realised they were in blue.

It’s he’s ability to claim crosses for me f***ing superb every cross you expect to see him claim it

One of the best crosses claimed percentages in Europe prior to joining us.

We purposely concede a lot of crosses (as we choose to block the middle of the pitch).

Smart, logical recruitment.
