Burnley Forum

No wonder they are a bit bitter. They probably thought - well at least there's only two relegation places to avoid cos Sunderland are sureto be bottom.

Can't say i blame them given where we finished last season and how close things were in the playoffs.

It wasn't exactly an attitude entirely missing among lots of us, to be honest. But we saw the quality that we'd signed first of course. 'Cos we pay most attention to our own team. (Plus they beat us second game out)

Taken a while but yes the penny is dropping. Our style of play is suited to absorbing pressure rather than having 60 per cent of the ball, as well. Makes us more competitive in this league.

Like to see both Burnley and Dirty Leeds stay up as well. Because the pundits and other clubs thought similar about them, except not quite as nailed on for the drop as they had us.

I must see the play off games differently to others. The terms "lucky" "scraped through" "outplayed" used. We were never behind in the tie against Coventry, they were chasing it, and after 35mins in the final, there was only one team going to win it. Never mind we were "on our way" however we did it.😁
 
and just to say, We may have been a long way behind last year but we’ve bought a whole new team ffs. This is not the team that finished 24 points behind the automatic places.

from the moment we swiftly started signing multiple players at roughly 20 million a pop, I thought, oh, we seem keen here, and then when we signed Xahka it was clear we were seriously going at it.

Our owners had a plan, saw the failings of recently promoted teams and executed it brilliantly. This coupled with kinder fixtures at the start of the season, brilliant support and brilliant coaching to bring it all together. No luck at all, can't remember many dodgy decisions being needed to win games or penalties

This. It’s madness and probably lazy on some pundits part but the amount of people still saying they can’t believe how well a side that came up via the playoffs is doing …..
 
Still peddling out the “easy fixture list” line I see. We’ve played the current top 2, another 2 clubs currently in the top 10, plus the teams in 11th and 12th.

So out of 11 games we’ve played 6 teams in the top 12

5 of their last 7 games have been against teams in the bottom 9 (bottom 8 if you exclude them), they've picked up 7 points from them

Remember walking out after they beat us and their youngens giving it the bigen and even then Im thinking don’t worry lads we are staying up and you will be back in the champ next season
This poster got my bang on

They've recruited brilliantly, probably the best set of signings we'll ever see from a newly promoted team. They play like an established PL team.

You need a bit of luck but we didn’t get a blatant hand ball v Everton or else we would have had 2 more points so “ swings and roundabouts “ as they say.

To be fair to them as fans, they should be in a better place than us right now.

They've had loads of PL money recently, spent pretty frugally over the years and must be wondering how we've leapfrogged them so quickly.

Must be a hard pill to swallow.
 
Enjoyed reading that place over the summer, as they were twisting themselves in knots to explain how their window was actually better then ours and how we'd wasted all this money on nobodies etc., how we'd finished 20 points below them (or whatever it was?).

Actually, to be fair to them, they've done far far better then I was expecting with their signings. But obviously we're streets ahead of them.

Something I actually quite dislike about football is that we as fans rarely praisse other teams - it's always a failing of your team/ owners etc.
 
I'll never forget the way they went on down there after the 0-0 when Isidor missed the penalties.

They actually haven't spent much less than us which is the most hilarious thing. They've just had to spend the bulk of it on obligations to buy Championship players that are nowhere near good enough for the PL.
 
Some make the point about our 'easy' start but then another says we've played 6 of the same teams. We've taken 11 points from those games yet they've only taken 4.
