Craft Beer

I didn’t realise that Home Bargains rescued the brewery. Fair play to them. They’re an unglamorous option, but this beer is rock solid. There’s a festive IPA too called Santa’s Big Red IPA. 5.0%.

I find them hit and miss, but when they are good they are great value
Espresso porter on in the Isis, got about 1/10 of a pint pulled and it ran out. Gutted.

Durham brewery have a couple of new stouts that look interesting to me, nee good for @Town End Farmer Giles turkish delight and rum n raisin. Might have to get myself to the shop.
They had the Turkish Delight on in the stables in Cleadon about 6 months ago. I manipulated the situation where I went out for a bike ride with my daughter & we were going to stop for break there on the way home. Approached Cleadon & the heavens opened. Didn’t want to wheel two bikes inside, so sacked it off.

Wasn’t to be 😔

I used to think I liked sweet stouts. Then I found out there was this whole pastry stout thing & realised I didn’t know what a sweet stout was.

Coffee & chocolate are pretty much the go tos. Can’t beat a good non-adjuncted one like.
I have a love-not arsed relationship with coffees. One that gently invokes a coffee taste can be very nice, but the ones that are overpoweringly bitter leave me a bit cold. I don’t dislike them, I’m just not bothered. Part of the problem is that I’m particularly a fan of strong coffee itself.

If I could be arsed I'd look at my untappd but very much doubt I've ever used the phrase "too much coffee" for a coffee stout

Not a huge fan of Christmas beers mind, nutmeg, clove etc have no place in a beer for me. File alongside chili, mint, etc

And Turkish delight and rum n raisin @Wilfy

Funnily enough, I don’t drink coffee. Which makes me liking coffee stout a bit strange

I can’t think of specifics, but I’ve definitely had a few where I’ve thought ‘I might as well just drink a coffee and save the hangover’.

Cinnamon in a beer can be glorious. Anything that evokes a Christmas cake taste :)
