No but I will never forget Peterborough 2019 - the passion Charlie showed that day was real. I shared the directors box with him that day and will always remember his clenched fist when Max Power scored.

When Charlie talks people listen - Speakman & KLD certainly did and wouldn’t be here now without Methven’s charismatic headhunting.

He wasn't, he didn't, they would. I don't even think you believe a single word of this. These people all came to the club via other connections, any input Methven had was at best tertiary to them coming to us.

Methven failed miserably and was so odious and unwanted that Donald jettisoned him as a director in the middle of talks with the Americans, becaus (despite his PR background), he had managed to almost single-handedly turn the entire situation into open hostility between owners and fans.

I suspect this is a Charlie wind-up account. Even his posts about being in the Caribbean toasting his input into us is essentially trolling. Everyone with any real understanding of the situations he faced knows he managed to f*ck up almost every moment of his 'ownership'.

How would you have raised money for a club with a crippling wage bill? It was good business to sell them as has been proved by the lack of impact these so called decent players have made in the upper levels of football since being sold.

Had the ‘pleasure’ of an academy tour by him. Been in business long enough to spot an absolute gobshite chancer a mile off.

Im not winding anyone up. I stand by everything I have said. Charlie was involved in bringing KLD and Speakman to the club no matter how many people deny it and he left the club in a much better financial state than it was when he came in. That’s all im saying and people seem to have great difficulty accepting that. I’m bowing out of this thread now as I’ve made my stance clear.

Unlike Methven and Donald, most understand they don’t have the finance to run Sunderland AFC. They probably wouldn’t have structured a deal where they used the clubs own money to finance a takeover, claim they’d ‘given Ellis £40m’ and then proceed to gut the club, at very best patronise its supporters, and leave it languishing in the third tier of English football for a period of time that was entirely miserable.

But, let’s say I did have the money, I’d have used that to purchase the club and put the parachute payments to work in their intended fashion.
