Methven still claiming credit

Show a bit of back bone and get your tongue out of Charlie's derrière.

If you are happy with the work that he done at this club then you have a very low bar of both work ethics and achievements.
He was so close to being a success. There’s people up the road head chopping people and you are more concerned about a man with salmon trousers who helped the club get back on its feet.

Im not selling my soul just saying he isn’t the vile devil people are portraying him as. Charlie has left 2 clubs in a much better place now compared to when he took over and Sheff Wed fans are hoping there will be a third.
kildare is that you? charlie is a stain on the good name of safc..i wish him no ill will but i cannot give him any credit for what he did at safc (as he deserves none)and on a personal level i think hes a moron with the ego of a planet!..at least Donald has the good sense to keep quiet!

It’s easy enough to understand. It’s easy to criticise from the bubble of your keyboard without having to do any proper hard work. Did you contact any rich men to try and do better? No - you were happy to just criticise the people who actually tried.
:lol::lol:

Why are Sheff Wed fans crying? One of them should have just bought the club from Chansiri.

How in the hell was he "so close" he left when we were 11th in league one ffs 🤣

He was one game away from promotion in 2019 - that’s pretty close. Also the club was in a much more stable financial position compared to when he came. Something that we are benefiting from now. It’s easy to understand. Maybe Charlie was right about the intellect of some Sunderland fans.

I'm 99% sure this is a wind up, but on this point...

This is factually incorrect. He left his position at the club in 2019, after steering us to 11th in League One. He sold his shares later, but for almost the entire time he was directly involved in day-to-day aspects of the club, he presided over abject failure.

I'll say it again: Cutting is the easy part. You could bring in a golden retriever with a set of dice and achieve cuts. The intent is to move upwards, and that was something he was unable to do. Claiming credit for KLD coming, Speakman coming, and because one player who barely played has ended up being at the club throughout that journey, is an incredible reach. He failed miserably on every level, and the fact that at least 3 proposed ownership groups ran a mile when they saw the inner workings of the shell he had created, tells you that it was likely significantly worse than he would ever admit.

Nobody has played a greater role in almost destroying us as a football club. Claiming credit because he was eventually forced out after lying brazenly about how they funded their purchase, alienating everyone with attacks on the fan base and failing in every critical role he claimed for himself, is his legacy. A fraud of a man, almost in the literal sense.
Enjoyed that.

No disagreement from me. He's very personable (as most Etonians are) and OK socially, but I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him. It took me an age to work out what really happened, and even then it was down to looking at charges over the Hilton which joined the dots.

Remind me, what had really happened?

Got it bang on about you that’s for sure

Christ, how embarrassing.

Hows that foreign gig charles? Had to cut off the pink chinos?

So what was he doing helping to recruit Speakman and KLD after this if like you say he wasn’t even involved in the club?

The man made mistakes but he inherited an absolute shambles. The club were leaking 27 million pounds a year debt when he came in and were 180 million pounds in debt. How can you say he left it in a worse place than that? Just because he wasn’t involved in day to day running doesn’t mean he wasn’t influential behind the scenes. He was a still a shareholder.

When Charlie talks people listen - Speakman & KLD certainly did and wouldn’t be here now without Methven’s charismatic headhunting.
That last sentence pretty much confirms that you're on the wind-up, still getting an impressive number of bites though.

How is the truth embarrassing?

He failed miserably, while doing so he was lying through his back teeth about everything while slagging Sunderland supporters off. You can tell he was an Etonian, he has an overblown narcissistic ego, utterly full of shite

Don’t think he is the devil but he is far from genuine. Just consider the evidence.
He claimed they bought the club for £40m. He lied.
He claimed the club was debt free. He lied.
He claimed he recruited Speakman. He lied.
He claimed he attracted KLD to the club. He lied.
He claimed the club was losing £27m a season when he came in. He lied.
He claimed the club was £180m in debt when he came in. He lied.
He claimed he laid the foundations for the business strategy. He lied.
He claims we got promoted due to his business strategy. He lied.
He claims we are in the premier league because of him. More lies.
He is not a genuine man. What he is, is someone who tricks, fools and lies to people to win them over. Another term for this is a confidence man. Or con man for short.
Seems he’s done a job on you mate.
Game, set and match

Short cleared most of the debt, but moved the last £25m into Drumaville (a mysterious £25m loan from SBC to Drumaville secured on the Hilton appeared at the time the deal went through). As a non-trading company, Drumaville had no reason to need such a loan. Nor were the charges SBC had over Sunderland assets lifted. The deal was that that £25m was to be paid by SAFC. Thanks to atrocious drafting, that money had to pass via Madrox, creating the now infamous debt to the club. SBC finally lifted the charges over both the hotal and the club in August 2019, after Short had had all the money owed to him (£15m for the shares in Sunderland and £25m to repay SBC), and paid off SBC.
