Niall Huggins.

These lads all need to concentrate on their recoveries. The club has moved on without them but when they're ready to train again it'll be immediately obvious to all whether they have a future here.
Huggins has no future here. He's nearly 25 and hasn't even played 30 first team games. He's not this up and coming youngster, and due to his injuries has missed out on a crucial period of his career where he should have been picking up crucial experience and learning about the game.

For reference Neil Ballard and cirkin all passed 100 games years before that age.

Got an assist on the 7th October against Fulham U21's I don't think the pic from September was an injury. Unless something happened between 7th october and now?

Was it ledley king who never used to train and just played on a Saturday. I feel like that might be the only way Huggins manages to have some sort of career.

His body clearly can’t handle the demands of what a professional footballer has to go through.

Shame as he was very good when he got up to speed and would easily be good enough to have a solid championship career imo

I disagree. He was one of our better full backs when fit, probably most effective from the right hand side but you could always rely on him to do a good job.

He was showing plenty of promise before all of this started.
My issue is he's played less than 30 games in his entire career, including appearances for Leeds and Wycombe. He turns 25 in December.

That's not enough to really judge a player. He had a run of 19 games in 23/24, including a couple of sub appearances, where he looked quite good - he had some good games, some not so good. That's more or less the same number of games as Cirkin played before his injury last season where he genuinely looked excellent then massively tailed off post-injury. Which is normal to an extent as players have good and bad runs of form, but we're yet to see Huggins play even half a season. Even in League One people were talking him up as a superstar on the back of a good game against a dreadful Cheltenham team. It's not that I don't like him or rate him, I just don't think he's played anywhere near enough to justify the hype. And realistically, unfortunately he's got no future here as he'll be 25 - not a young kid - and behind Hume, Mukiele and Geertruida who'll have proven themselves in the Prem, and in Mukiele's case in the Champions League. He's not worth persevering with.

If that's the case then we just have to get him healthy and send him on his way.

it’s easy to be a **** about him after the fact. He came back from one very serious injury, had a run of games and proved to be one of our best fullbacks, before getting another very serious injury. He was absolutely talented enough to make it in the prem before the injury, and you couldn’t possibly have known he was ruined now by the latest injury.

It’s a real shame for the lad and I’ll never understand why some of our fans need to write players off so early just that they can get an ‘I told you so’ in if they’re right. How about supporting them instead maybe?
Yep.. some people just can’t help themselves.. terminally f***ing miserable

I think the fitness levels of players is too high these days for that to be an option in my humble opinion.

was canny mad when people just used to spout, he is the best fullback at the club by far, without absolutely any evidence

I liked Huggins, but perfect example of being a better player when you are out of the team
Really hope he can have a run injury free, he could be a really good player.

Same, got some great attributes, needs to find the right club for a year, get some games n take it from there

still really young and people come back from much worse injuries

He did look good in the few games he played. That goal c Watford was as outstanding.
Sadly, he’ll probably never get another chance here with Mukiele, Geertruida and Hume in front of him.
