Members Events Schedule Confirmed For 2025

Bostock, Campbell, North, Collins and Hazell all in attendance

A few points so far:

Campbell said that the Yorkshire performance was horrific. He sent the batters out to score and to not defend.

Tim reckons we’re still on course to win the County Championship in the next 5 years, if not multiple.

He backs his views on this squad being the best Durham team in a generation

Campbell believes he’s still the man for the job, and defended the decision to give him a new contract in September, this was met with an applause from the audience.

Everyone is scratching their head about injuries. They had an audit from the ECB and even they were puzzled.

Based off Campbell’s comments, I believe they’re going to open talks soon regarding the captaincy with Lees.

They don’t expect any more departures ahead of next year. Should we not get promoted, Bostock believes the majority will still stay.

North wants an overseas fast bowler, still going through a big list, so no names as of yet.

North believes that Aldridge is the best replacement for Coughlin in terms of ability and age.

Campbell reiterated that squad depth was limited, highlighting that injuries did play a huge factor this season.

Will Rhodes was not supposed to play the T20 stuff which I found interesting.

Women’s side looking to attract Suzie Bates back but know concerns about age and availability.

Overall, a full review into all departments within the club was said to be needed.

Few adds on to @danthemanSAFC 's excellent summary-

Campbell said after getting promotion in his first year he deserved a 10 year contract (about a third of the audience applauded)

Bostock said we can't pay the wages that the likes of Surrey do - he said that we'd been in for Fisher of Yorks last year. He also said that if there was a football style transfer system then every Durham player would be good enough to be snapped up by Div 1 teams. 95% of our players are contracted for s further two seasons.

Campbell said that he would love to be fielding a first XI of all NE players and this wasn't possible but repeated that if you are a local lad in the Acad and are good enough then you will get your chance.

A question about priotising County Cricket gave Bostock the chance to vent his spleen. He said he was very disappointed that the new proposals had not gone through. He reckons there will be more attempts in the next two years to change it and it was difficult to get past the 2/3 majority needed. Said the counties who voted against it were living in cloud cuckoo land and there would be no chance of attracting top overseas players to play red ball as they would all be playing franchise cricket. He bitterly predicted that unless counties accepted his proposals then in 5- 7 years the Championship would be no better than the Minor Counties Championship.

North admitted that he could accept that a lot of members for the first time may not feel proud of DCCC after watching some of the performances in 2025.

Hotel - Bostock said on Dec 3 he is at a meeting with the Full Planning Committee and then only problem had been the flood risk assessment. He said the go ahead should be imminent but admitted he'd been saying that for last 2 years.

Bostock was asked about the franchise money and said DCCC would be receiving £24.6 million. They would pay off outstanding debts to ECB and County Council leaving us £20m. It was at this time that Mrs RT said something and I missed the jist of what was said but think money would be invested in a fund by ECB (hmmm) but interest would be paid to counties. Part of money could be accessed but specific purposes not like signing Kohli etc etc.

Had to leave at 7.20 but imagine there wasn't many more questions from the floor.

On the way home Mrs RT ( who will admit she's not exactly a cricket expert and only really goes for the Trapdoor Titans craic ) said - " They were just like politicians waffling on but saying nothing!"

Thanks for the additional info.

1 - I can see the clapping seals in my mind.
2 - The second half of this, which he has said previously, is total crap. Worrying if he actually believes it.
3 - He hasn't heard there will be no more reviews until 2029 at the earliest
4 - It does sometimes take the opinion of a non-cricket fan to point out stuff like this. I'm sure we get too involved but I like the sound of Mrs RT.

Was it packed to the rafters?

Bostock saying the CC would be no better than the minor counties championship...

That is exactly what he is trying to achieve, yet the ECB keep saying that the 16.4 money would save the CC.

So which is it ? Maybe if Bostock took his head out of both the ECB's and Saudi's arses, he could see what every other genuine cricket fan could see.

Thanks for the additional.
If Campbell believes a promotion on his cv deserves a 10 year contract then by the same logic a relegation on his c.v. should merit dismissal with no return within 10 years.
Don't believe for one moment that Bostock really believes that we have a great squad-he's simply expert at deflecting any blame or responsibility from himself and other management.
Never any mention when the hotel project is discussed of any research as to its viability. Equally concerning is the fact that experts in their field express concerns regarding flooding risk appear to have been dismissed.
Bostock is a banker( that's not a misspelling😀) thinks money not cricket.

Win the County Championship within 5 years :lol::lol:

Someone please feel free to bump this and take the piss in 5 years should this happen.
