Forthcoming gigs.

Decent article. However 99% of the time, The Quietus is by and for tosspots.
I've found some music I really enjoy through the Quietus end of year lists that I probably would never of discovered otherwise, but I have seen a couple of bad album reviews recently where they've hit below the belt.
Anyway I am looking forward to Boundaries Festival.

It was a bit of a shit show initially (none of the presale codes for Sat/Sun in the US worked) but managed to get Sunday in London and then the extra date in NYC
Nice one. Wondering if there may be a third London show too. Dates either side of the two shows are available at the venue. Apparently it is expensive to come to the UK these days so a third show seems logical.

Saturday for me. Always fancied Sly and The Family Drone. Shame they only have a 45 minute slot.

I think they probably will. Or they’ll add more tour dates to play more towns. Seems unlikely they would make all the effort of this reunion and then just play 2 cities. Certainly bands are finding it increasingly hard to play overseas - we’ve had a few UK bands say it’ll be their last tour in the US for that reason - so I agree with you, it’s a long and expensive way to come for 2 shows

Going to see Billy Cobham at the Union Chapel after the game on Saturday (Piccadilly Line allowing 🤞)
Then Cardinal Black at Koko next Thursday.
Kingfish at the Forum in November.
Big gap until Brothers Landreth in April and Phillip Sayce in June.
Something else will turn up.

Contrary to the naysayers I think this will be decent too. A few drinks, a bit waffle about The Smiths, then Chris Hawkins doing an indie classics DJ set in the Engine Room with more drinks. I'm planning to go anyway .
I'd give the Chris Hawkins bit a swerve mate, I went to the Tim Burgess Q & A (which was pretty good) and he was DJing afterwards, he ended up playing stuff like The Fratellis.

we were towards the back and the modern trend of this ones a quiet one we'll just talk whilst they sing it was shocking at points.

Big time - I was back left, couple of feet from the bar and there was 4 lasses, 1 especially a blond who was an absolute shit. Even more when her and her mates tried to get someone hoyed out who was shouting shut the fuck up at them cos none of us could hear adam.

They moved forward and a lass next to me with her bloke was like ... yes, so we all went yessssss and the bloke in front turned round and went, ah, but are they really bloody gone.

We were unfortunately stood right next to them. I'm all for people having a sing-along at a gig but they were shouting the lyrics at the top of their voices during the quieter songs, was doing my head in

I've noticed that being worse at quite a few gigs over the past few years and can't understand it. Why pay good money to go listen to live music and then just spend half the time getting tanked up and loudly bantering on with your mates through the whole thing?

Saw Fantastic Negrito at Pilgrim (formerly Hoochie Coochie) in August, and he stopped a song dead and ordered a group of people chatting through a quiet song to leave, and that they could have their money back. Words to the effect of "this is not the right place for you, you don't belong here."

Counting Crows were EPIC this eve ... sha le la la le la la ...

I went, Tremendous. Amazing how many people only knew the album versions and not the live intros tho ....
Yeah, still a really good gig, they have great on stage chemistry as a band. Nice balance between the new album stuff and the 90s stuff. That segue from a Taylor Swift cover into A Long December was class!
