I was only 13 at the time and David Sweeney was playing for the First XI by then in a team something like - KR Flynn, R Harrison, Wasim Raja, NC Allison, W Routledge, DL Greener, JD Reach, R Forster, S Elstob, DA Nevins, and D Sweeney.

Faced Beaney in the nets and he took sympathy on me and reverted to spin which I foolishly hit straight back over his head. Bad mistake ! ....I never saw the next delivery.

Was DLG's garden in jeopardy 😳

Maybe a surprise choice since I've criticised him a lot in the last couple of years (for his bowling), but Scott Borthwick is a favourite and big shame that he got the yips or something.

He seemed to play his best when Durham were chasing a total to win. The calmness, the pacing and tempo and the controlled shots. But a particular memory is not in a chase but him playing alongside Collingwood in the first innings of the match against Northants when they each scored a century.

I only had a membership from 2005 to 2017 so here are my GOAT'S from that golden period. Fingers crossed the wickets not a Bunsen Burner.
