Carlton Fairweather RIP

A group of 26 Sunderland AFC staff members will take on the 2025 Great North Run in memory of their much-loved former colleague and coach, Carlton Fairweather, who sadly passed away earlier this year following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

The team will run the iconic 13.1-mile route from Newcastle to South Shields on Sunday 7 September 2025, united in their goal to raise vital funds in Carlton’s name.

All proceeds will be split between two charities close to the club’s heart. The majority of the fundraising will support St Benedict’s Hospice, in gratitude for the exceptional care, compassion, and support they provided to Carlton and his family during his illness. In addition, as 12 of the runners secured their race entries through the Meningitis Trust, the group will also be raising funds for that cause.

This special tribute is a way for Sunderland AFC staff to honour Carlton’s legacy and continue the values he championed within the club.

Staff Participating:
Kyle Barnes, Pete Brand, Sam Clayton, Emily Davis, Jonjo Dickman, Conor Dunne, Lee Dodgson, Jordan Ewen, Josh Goodfellow, Alasdair Hamilton, Louise Harrison, John Hewitson, Finn Lynch, Sam Innes, Angel Inman, Andy Inness, Sam Kelly, Jonny Maddison, Keith McGrath, Jordan Moore, Robin Nichols, Adam Nodding, Jack Pringle, Phil Reynard, Dan Ross, James Snead-Speck

Any mods around who fancy making that last post a sticky on its own? Deserves a bit of publicity.

Thought so 👍

Need to get some lasses ones up, not sure if MWS have stopped sponsoring both teams
I suspect it will be the same as last year that they only auction them at the end of the season to avoid having to pay for too many shirts

You can tell the ones we bought were well worn like

They were probably fuming at having to print the third shirt for the match at Southampton
