As to ‘fault’, it would depend. DD on any major contractor is an essential element of any competent procurement process.
No, I was saying the supplier of the specialised decking went bust not the builder.

Probs worth noting though that, depending on the contract structure, a supplier failure is quite likely to be the responsibility of the main contractor (who should, acting prudently, have completed appropriate due diligence and have contingency plans).
Your rude reply missed the point. I meant - what decking are they going to use now them?
Also - IT IS AUTUMN.
It will be the same to match, but from a different supplier.
Do you have any idea how much is missing?
It would have perhaps been better to work around the clock to get it completed for the event and the future instead.

You sound very naive to be honest , if a supplier goes bust thats out of anyones control and extention of time would be granted. You cant have contingency for every bit of material on a project if the supplier goes bust to immediately source a replacement.

I’ve drafted, negotiated and completed dozens of construction contracts so I don’t think ‘naive’ is fair or justified in the context of what I posted.

I’m not looking for an argument - it’s Saturday and a matchday after all - but I find it staggering that you consider yourself empowered with knowledge of what my reality actually is.
In any event, none of this answers why the bridge was not completed months earlier or why there is still no public specific completion date.
Based on (I’ll agree, nothing more than) the observable progress from outside the site, but also my experience, the bridge project seems to have taken far, far longer than it could have done and (coupled with my professional experience over two decades of public sector, local authority procurement) I think it quite likely that the process could have been improved and streamlined. Hopefully the project review team will consider this and identify improvements for the future.

People complain about the quality of public sector professionals, but largely the same people are up in arms if they are offered wages that compete with the private sector.
