Getting promoted - do we actually want it?

It is a worry what will happen if we go up, and we will probably lose a lot of games. I don't think many of our fan base are mature enough to accept that. Although, with expectations being so low, people might actually get behind the team especially if we get off to a decent start.

However, we have got some of the best young talent outside of the premierleague and, with an extra year under their belts, and some shrewd purchases, you never know... we might do well.

I agree, but watching a season of us getting beat every week isn't fun. The premier league is no longer a competition. It'll just be a year of not enjoying football.
We could commit resources and do our very best to stay up. Teams have done well, it's not a given we'd struggle or go down. That attitude brings with it defeat anyway.

If we don't go up many will leave. Neil and cirkin have a year left and we've seen how that goes. Don't go up and the best will get picked off.

What doesn’t sound fun; is getting promoted and never getting out the bottom three and hoping to get 4 wins all season.
This season the bottom 3 (with 4 to play) have
Won/drawn
4/9
4/6
2/5

Last season

Won drawn
6/8
5/9
3/7

That’s a miserable time for the fans.

It's a worry what will happen if we don't. A lot of this squad will leave either from Loan moves back to their clubs or some big offers in for the young talents we have. We then have to compete with he 3 relegated teams while we all moan it's hard to compete against them due to their parachute payments.

That would be us even IF we did get relegated so I think it's crackers for anyone to even contemplate not wanting to go up. Add in the feeling of euphoria if we won the semis and then had a weekend in London again and a chance to take the roof off if we won the final, as it would top the Wycombe game by a fair margin with what it means to the club and we finally get to reach back where we were before a fair few years of shite we have endured since

Seems that if you say don't go up it means what's the point ?
I think it's about progress and preparation and timing . You win games for breathing space ,head room etc .
You start a season and it could go in any direction ,we've had a decent one and we're progressing . Not going up isn't failure.
As said it would be back to getting beat a lot and the odd win for us to watch on motd.
I'd happily go up but our level is somewhere in between

Watching the Premier highlights and seeing Ipswich put up no fight against the Mags, I’m not sure how we go from getting turned over by Oxford and Blackburn to competing with established Premier League teams in a couple of months.

This team has some talent but it is miles off being able to compete in the PL. I honestly wouldn’t mind another season in this league and letting the young players develop and hopefully continue to improve.

I’m not sure I would enjoy a season of getting battered like Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton have had. Maybe these last few weeks are just sucking the life/positivity out of me.
This is new

It’s shit but what’s the alternative? Go up, be labelled ‘plucky’ at the start, then ‘relegation candidates’ by Christmas. Buy a load of players who you sincerely can’t wait to see the back of by February. Come down again, a stain on the memory of the PL, ashamed that you only managed 20 points, but with parachute payments that no other bugger has and a sense of optimism for another promotion in 9 months.

Or stay in the Championship and wonder what might have been?

To be fair this was posted after or during the time where we were tossing games away and whilst we were guaranteed the playoffs, things weren't looking good. I remember coming out of that QPR game thinking 'what a load of shit ' and 'not going to Coventry waste of time, then it was 'yous coming to cov' and the rest is history 🤣.
