Competing to be the NE top dogs

Not really. I work with a lot of Newcastle fans and they are massively underwhelmed with their transfer business.

It’s just a case of the mags being over rated by Sunderland fans it always happens on here I don’t understand it

Being underwhelmed with their transfer business doesn’t take into account the players they already had. They qualified for the UCL again last season and their fans will have wanted them to push on to the next level.

But they still have one of the best midfield 3’s in the country, Thiaw looks a good bit of business too. Elanga has been a bit shit so far, Wissa has been injured (looks a poor signing from a business perspective mind).

They’ve lost one of the best strikers in the world in the summer but that doesn’t make the rest of the team shit.

Their keepers are horrible mind.

It’s not at all. They’re literally a champions league side. Even without isak, they’ve run Liverpool, Arsenal and Barcelona close in the last month. You’re either a mag on a fishing trip or massively deluded.

ADMWIL is correct ,he isnt saying tomorrow but could be fairly soon.As for the money they can spend, its how you spend it,remember the Ellis Short days.Haway man lets get excited 🤩 🥳

I think the Champions League games will catch up with them. They play a certain style which is very high tempo and I think their squad is not good enough to handle that + extra games over time. I'd expect them to struggle to finish in a European place this season. A top PL team does not have to bring on Lascelles. Trippier is way past his best. They have a few other players who are on the brink of going down hill.

I agree with the OP that we have a fresh young team who can only grow with more games together and experience of the PL. Funnier things have happened than us finishing ahead of them even this season because of what I've mentioned. I don't realistically see this happening but it's nice to even have a glimmer that it could come true to shut those fuckers up for a bit.

I will be delighted with 14-17th for us this season but it’s possible we could do a bit better than that, fingers crossed

The mags look a bit stale to me compared to previous seasons. Many of their players are ageing and don’t appear to have the legs to play the high tempo style that Howe favours

Isak was their best player by a mile. Livermento is class and will be a massive miss

That all said they will be top half, but probably only just - perhaps 9th or 10th

Enjoy us being above the Mags it’ll be at least 2 more games before that changes which is great! But they are a strong side and will be in or around the European places. Didn’t get carried away we have one goal, 17th or above!

You also said their squad looks pretty honking. Which objectively it isn’t.
Don’t think it’s anything flash at all, keepers and defence a definite down grade to ours.

They have one senior forward who’s yet to prove himself. Their midfield is good mind I’ll give them that, but xhaka has been pretty influential for our start, so not too arsed about that either

We've always been NE top dogs no matter what the vermin say or think. They know it too. They'll always be the late arriving, upstart pretenders and whatever they win from now on is tainted by their owners blood money. They'll not be bothered but we'll all know.

Success is fleeting and cyclic, but class is permanent.

I think the broader point about the perception of Sunderland AFC from those outside the region/online is spot on. The biggest boost - points aside -from these 6 games is our enhanced reputation. On and off the pitch. No better example than Sheera having to admit we are indeed mint. FTM.
