Diarra out till December

Masuake is a wing back, why couldn't you see him playing there if we (highly unlikely as it is) played with wingbacks?
Just moves us to a very defensive 5. The flexibility of talbi at wing back just lets us rotate into a 4 in possession and then narrow out of possession. Don’t get me wrong, I agree Masuaku is a wing back but I really don’t see him playing from the start. Time will tell though!

It was noticeable we switched back to a back 4 after Villa scored. Regis clearly sees 3 CBs as a purely defensive option which cuts down our attacking possibilities. He'll stick with 4 the vast majority of the time.
Hard to tell when playing against 10 men, always going to look defensive. Just think the threat of Ballard is a huge swing and you cannot really drop Mukiele or Alderete. Then our wingers haven’t really stood out yet, so with Diarra news, we have to be flexible. 4 at the back will be used most times but for the foreseeable don’t think it’s our best option.

We won't be starting 5 at the back so it's a moot point from both of us anyway. Masuake is absolutely the obvious replacement for Reinildo though

Which again would've made sense with Masuake being a left back/wing back. It was a ready made position for him.
I said earlier though maybe with Talbi's work rate and the thought that bringing on fresh legs after those on the pitch had ran themselves ragged rather than make the subs early played a part in Le Bris' thoughts
If he'd swapped out Rigg for Masuaku, who would have been the 3 centre backs and right wing back?

It was a perfectly logical switch which also managed to get 2 CBs in the box for offensive throws and 3 for corners. Which, when you're 1 man down, are a really important attacking option

I don't think it's a reflection of Masuaku, more the state of the game. Had Reinildo been injured, we'd have probably seen Masuaku switch in with minimal fuss

I wonder if we could try and block an AFCON call up if they pick him and he’s still not fit by the end of the year. It’s a World Cup year so it’s not as if he wouldn’t get the chance to play in a tournament this season.

And a bloke who has played left back/LWB and left centre back was over looked 🤷
I don't think he's played at LCB in any serious way in his career.

But the point still stands, getting Ballard, Mukiele and Alderete on makes a lot of defensive and attacking sense in a back 3/5 and when you're down to 10 men.

It also meant we had in the in possession option of a back 4 (Hume, Ballard, Mukiele, Alderete) with Talbi getting more forward on the break

He's played CB for us this season mind.

Hmm! So far that’s two injuries picked up this season from training, first Enzo and now Habib, not ideal!
yes this is the first time in the history of sport that 2 people have got an injury while training.

"Hello?.... Yes i'd like to speak to Norris McWhirter!..."
