Should never have left for Bayern Munich mind unless he wins a Champions League then having Bundesliga medals isn't much to shout about winning them for Bayern Munich, could have beat Shearer's record ffs.

Shearers record means nowt really. Its top scorer of a competition that's 30 year old.Should never have left for Bayern Munich mind unless he wins a Champions League then having Bundesliga medals isn't much to shout about winning them for Bayern Munich could have beat Shearer's record ffs.
Don’t think he’s that bothered by that.Should never have left for Bayern Munich mind unless he wins a Champions League then having Bundesliga medals isn't much to shout about winning them for Bayern Munich, could have beat Shearer's record ffs.
England have been useless for years and years. The poorest of managers for that time hasn’t helped over the years either.England don’t tend to turn up for big games .
Shearer might have the record for the most goals but I don’t recall them winning the mags much.Shearers record means nowt really. Its top scorer of a competition that's 30 year old.
Shearer’s ‘record’ is completely made up. It’s Jimmy Greaves’ record.Shearers record means nowt really. Its top scorer of a competition that's 30 year old.
He is playing for one of the great football clubs of the world, living in a great country, playing in the CL, winning trophies and scoring and just generally being class.Should never have left for Bayern Munich mind unless he wins a Champions League then having Bundesliga medals isn't much to shout about winning them for Bayern Munich, could have beat Shearer's record ffs.
Winning trophies? He joined a team that had won 11 league titles in a row in the league and his 1st season stopped that run. Aye they won it again last season by 13 points as normal service resumed for his 1st trophy and their version of the Community Shield is all he's won so nowt to write home about. He is playing for one of the great football clubs of the world, living in a great country, playing in the CL, winning trophies and scoring and just generally being class.
Alternatively, he could get a goal at Burnley that would beat a record nobody cares about other than Sky Sports News.
I love the fact shearer has that record. If that’s the only thing he ever won at Newcastle, and is more proud of that than winning trophies elsewhere, it means absolutely nothing and he should be ridiculed for it.Should never have left for Bayern Munich mind unless he wins a Champions League then having Bundesliga medals isn't much to shout about winning them for Bayern Munich, could have beat Shearer's record ffs.
Bayern are a European giant...Winning trophies? He joined a team that had won 11 league titles in a row in the league and his 1st season stopped that run. He's obviously going to score goals in that league as he's in a good team up against worse defenders than the Premier League. The Bundesliga is up there with Scottish and French leagues with 1 dominant team not really being challenged for the title.
He's one of the best strikers but it's a shame he eventually had to leave Spurs and couldn't have gone to another team in the Premier League so we could still watch him.
They’ve only won 6 champions leagues. Tinpot iirc.Bayern are a European giant...
As usual people swallow the whole narrative about the PL ( best in the world, all the best players etc etc)
I'm not swallowing any narrative at all as I'm saying the standard of the defenders Kane's up against is worse or do you think the Bundesliga defenders have made it harder for Kane to score? The Premier League doesn't have all the best players but it has a higher level of players overall and some of the teams in Bundesliga would be Championship at best.Bayern are a European giant...

How many people talk about or remember the 1,000s of other players who won a trophy or 2 in the last 80 years? Why do people still remember one of the greats Greavsie who never won the Division 1 title?I love the fact shearer has that record. If that’s the only thing he ever won at Newcastle, and is more proud of that than winning trophies elsewhere, it means absolutely nothing and he should be ridiculed for it.
i just think goal records are a bit pointless if you win nothing to go alongside it (barring that 1 with blackburn). Especially when you had the chance to set that goal record AND win trophies elsewhere. He, and greavsie were both great players admittedly, but to me, goal records don't amount to much, in my eyes. I'm fairly sure if you ask the man utd players of that era if they're jealous of shearer's record, and would give up any trophies they won to swap, not a single one of them would say yes.I'm not swallowing any narrative at all as I'm saying the standard of the defenders Kane's up against is worse or do you think the Bundesliga defenders have made it harder for Kane to score? Of the top 30 revenues in 2024, 14 were Premier League teams and only 3 from Bundesliga, Bayern, Dortmund and thanks to Europe, Eintract. This allows teams to offer players more money and most of the better ones will follow the money. The total market value of the Bundesliga is £3.76bn on transfermarkt, yet the Premier League just spent £3.19bn on player fees this last transfer window. Even with inflated fees I think it's safe to say the overall standard of the defence in Bundesliga that Kane is up against isn't near PL level.
Given Bayern have won 12 of the last 13 shows just how uncompetitive the Bundesliga league is. In Germany, Bayern are a huge fish in a little pond and why I said that winning the Bundesliga and the Community Shield is nowt to write home about in reply to someone saying Kane is winning trophies.
That's why the greedy in the game wanted the European Super League as the money it would generate globally would ne huge due to having all the best players in the world in a single league. It's why the Champions League evolved into mini league worth £billions and will keep evolving as it grows and the Premier League drops off. It's TV, ads, sponsorship that drive most of the money in the game and in time the Champions League will be worth more than the Premier League.
Long story short, Kane has it easier in Bundesliga so needs to win more than Bundesliga

Shearer may be proud of his goals record (it's higher given he scored 23 pre Premier League) and he'd obviously be prouder if he's won summit and some people may forget he won the Premier League with Blackburn.
Surely you're not one of those who can't recognise players because they haven't won anything? Did Messi suddenly become a far better player the second he won the World Cup aged 35 or could it be he was past his peak but it was still clear to most just how good he was?
If Kane had beaten Shearer's record (aye Greavsie has the most but that's a differenyt era) then it's still a considerable acheivement, more so that he did it while winning nowt at Spurs. Spurs got close to winning the title like the mags but weren't good enough as a team or there was simply another team better than them at that time.
waffle over as I've wasted enough time on here today![]()
Aye as many as Liverpool and more than Man U/Arsenal and City combinedThey’ve only won 6 champions leagues. Tinpot iirc.
The same Messi who has won so many trophies and titles that I can’t even paste them as a reply to this message because it takes it over the 10,000 character limit?I'm not swallowing any narrative at all as I'm saying the standard of the defenders Kane's up against is worse or do you think the Bundesliga defenders have made it harder for Kane to score? Yeah he’d definitely be remembered more if all he’d done was score 261 premier league goals instead
It's not pointless if that's all you've got as there's an even better teams at the time. Aye the mags were good but how many players can you remember from their squads compared to the Man Utd players? Man Utd and Arsenal in the 90s/early 2000s were the teams to beat as they had some world class players. Blackburn aside, one of Man Utd or Arsenal won the PL from when it started in 1992 until 2004/05 when Chelsea's millions came along.i just think goal records are a bit pointless if you win nothing to go alongside it (barring that 1 with blackburn). Notice how I said it suddenly made him a better player, not more remembered. There were people stuck in the Messi v Ronaldo debate using the fact Messi hadn't won the World Cup etc. Yet even before that moment of lifting the WC, especially in his peak years prior he was the better all round player as it's not all about goals. The same Messi who has won so many trophies and titles that I can’t even paste them as a reply to this message because it takes it over the 10,000 character limit?
