SOL expansion

People whinge about getting away from the SoL, but if the new build included decent bars/food/screens available after a game the congestion would dissipate. There is no argument for not expanding.
The SoL will be a first-class concert venue too.

We all know the official attendances were often not reflective of the amount of people turning up for games last season. I suspect the average of people in attendance was closer to 35k.

It’s the way forward and I have no doubt it will happen , the club makes money for from it as well. It stops your day trippers setting up free accounts and getting tickets for Arsenal at home because they were online at 10am beating genuine fans to tickets.

The Newcastle game already has a restriction of 4 home games attended last season. I can see this being the same situation for more big games going forward

You think it stops them? It doesn't as even those with membership fees have 1,000s of accounts and some of those are bot accounts which is a problem in football.

The mags now have genuine fans being kept out due to touts as demand exceeds supply, therefore tickets can sell for far higher than original price. Those with bot accounts will probably have more success in getting tickets also even if it's a random queue. That means they'd have more access to games given they'd probably have a better ticket history. This is thor'd below from another thread.

Be good if the club could introduce some kind of loyalty point system for home tickets, so those who went in league one and champ get priority , and include the cup games too going forward maybe 2 points for a cup game , hate the membership ballot bollocks just a way to extract more cash from fans and live us to buck that trend

In all of our previous Premier League seasons it has been easy to get tickets for games. The club even gave loads of cheap tickets to schools. We have sold out the first four home games this season which shows that the demand for Premier League football is far greater than in the past.

If we expand and have another 5,000 seats available then we can potentially attract young football supporters from mixed areas who may have supported the mags if they had any availability.

Exactly, at least people might actually turn up to the midweek games now as the value of attending has risen, where as before it was just a given getting a ticket

They will have to if we are, as is the plan, to be an established top 10 premiership team. Also gives us the opportunity to sweep up young fans who are currently unable to attend games at the Stadium of Light as well the S**t tip.

Its a canny walk to Seven Sisters and the 2 trains stations are quite limited in capacity, if I remember right but they might have been upgraded in recent years.

Most areas in Sunderland have a direct bus outside the ground really and if you don't have one from there it's only a short walk to Park Lane. It's really well connected really.

Obviously it might be difficult to Darlington but let's be honest most people aren't coming from there and if they are theyre probably driving and there's loads of parking around unlike other places aswell.

Get it built and get as many younger fans going as possible, before the housing behind the South stand becomes an issue. I am 57 and started going with my dad then mates when old enough. We have had no real success in my time, but I found once you start going, its more than football and not many people jack it in.

I agree with this, it’s fine when things are going like this, but it has to be consistent. If we get beat a few times and go into the bottom 3 I’m unsure as to what the demand would be for a game in February against Fulham. And same goes if we stay up and then are midtable side, as to whether that would be exciting enough for some.

Was a joke, metros far too full and unable to pull away from stations as couldn’t get doors closed. A couple more metros would have solved the issue.

Presuming fulham bring a 1000 up thered be about 42,000 sold seats anyway.

In prem theyre practically guaranteed that as a min every game.

They stopped doing that about 12 years ago. Total Mag myth that we did it all the time too. Think it was only twice a season.

If you can't get a ticket, it doesn't matter how many empty seats there are.
I know there weren't many empty for the WH game, except for a few in the front of the East Stand because they were restricted view.

We did do it though and I didn’t see it as a bad thing. It may well have captured a few long term fans and also given the opportunity for parents to take their kids when they couldn’t normally afford to.

From my memory each school had two opportunities a season to buy (note buy) two tickets for £10. I think they were still doing it about 10 years ago as I took my youngest son to his first game on the deal. I already had a season ticket with my eldest and my wife and youngest came along on the school tickets and sat a few rows behind us in the NW upper.

My point in mentioning it was that tickets are selling out without the need for school deals, proving that there is a greater demand for tickets now than there ever was before.
